Vistani Camp - Tser Pool
« on: June 14, 2009, 10:10:01 PM »
A man clad in steel armor and noble helm, features obscured by mask and chain, the raven emblazoned on his shield arrives at the Vistani camp at the Tser pool. He kneels at the edge of the water and prays - to what, if anything, is unknown - facing the great oustretched hand in the pool throughout the night unmoving. At midnight, he lifts a silvered steel halbred above his head.

He then cast the Halbred into the Tser pool anddeparted, leaving with the Vistani into the mists for the West.

//If anyone finds the halbred there please don't take it, if a DM finds it please DO take it. One wasn't availible to take the Halbred at the time

A group of five people have been seen discussing for long with the Vistani, and having a reading in Madame Eva's vardo. The ancient woman seemed not being at her place. The three women and the two men, looking down, serious, stepping slowly, occasionally grunting (especially the male ones), have been seen eventually in the direction of the woods, as if walking towards their own doom.

After the visiting of three Ezrites and a fourth man to the mists, a man now stands guard at the camp most nights, leaning upon a walking stave.

He rarely speaks with the Vistani unless spoken to by them, paying for his food and board.

If asked what he is waiting for, he replies in a weak voice, saying little further than 'For the chiri to sing.'

[ For those willing to listen with coin, the Vistani quietly impart the knowledge of a strange formation discovered in the most remote depths of the Barovian forests. They speak of an hourglass and a rusted blade entwined with bramble; nothing more. ]

The tragedy in the Zarovan camp at Tser Pool was not foreseen even by the powerful Sight of Vistani. Stormy winds were felt in all the areas of the Core, despite around Tser it seemed the very eye of the cyclone. Vista-chiri, maybe upset about it, started migrating elsewhere, challenging the hostile weather. Some people, in Vallaki, have interpreted that as a bad omen. As the tempest was over, the birds returned to the camp, but in the camp there were two missing people, the Raunie and her little student: two Vistani midwifes have been found with hearts ripped out of their chests. The desperation of the Vistani was just lightly tempered by the promise of some adventurers to find the two missing women, the Crone and the Child.

The news spreads that Madame Eva has found her way back to Tser Pool, albeit in a sick and unwell state. Although her life is not in danger, she is said to be spending much time bedridden, only waking to speak certain cryptic prophecies.

The evening and morning hours around the Tser Pool of Barovia were illuminated with an interesting sight. A small congregation of individuals are seen mourning a lost companion, Marielle Willows. They had built a floating effigy for her to ignite and send across the glassy waters of the pool in a symbolic manner; a rather open display of passing on. In the end, her ashes were collected, and left to a peaceful respite against a nearby cliff.

The Collective painful screams of two people could be heard from the other side of the Tser pool, flickering amber light could also be seen. In the morning, all that would be found was the remains of a circle, scratchings of runes carved into the ground and the smell of burnt flesh.

The mists surrounding the Village of Barovia and Castle Ravenloft begins to rise. The Zarovan Vistani are seen turning travelers away who seek passage through the mists. It is not clear as to why the Captain has forbidden travel, but rumors begin to circulate... Some believe the Castle was attacked the previous night, while other's claim to have witnessed an explosion near the Castle itself. However, most are of the mind that the Devil Strahd has set his will against the land, forbidding all travel from Barovia...

A grim-faced giamarga caused a little scene, speaking angrily to a familiar red-skilted outlander in the Vistani camp, expressing disgust and anger and snapping pointlessly at nearby travelers using the wagon. She left before the real Vistani made her leave.

In the dead of night a large armed group departs the Vistani camp and travels around the pool.

Shortly thereafter odd sounds echo across the lake; chanting and shouting.

The ground trembles then, and the air stills.

Curiously, no battle can be heard. Nothing but the distant sounds of many voices follow.

As dawn comes the group departs, the sun rising on a changed world, their blades clean.

By dawn, a large group of dwarves and a couple humans, most likely recognizable as belonging to or affiliated with the Archondum, passes through Tser Pool, on their way to a grand expedition.  They exchange small talk for a bit, before setting out.

By evening, they return, victorious, though smaller in number as some linger behind in the mist camp.  Over a fire, the three that did intend to return to Vallaki or Dvergeheim beyond, share stories of a successful expedition to Markovia.
