Some man called Oriel Kurin failed at a simple magic trick by the bank. This happened just after he mentioned how his great début at Club L'Artiste would take place tomorrow. The only option left for him was to flee the scene in shame. Will he crumble under pressure during his big night as well?

[Yesterday, a rather furious Stella Seifert elected to cancel the show she had planned for that evening before entering a row with those standing on the terraces, chief among them the Baron de Duchbourg. In spite of this, it seems preparations remain underway for a show tonight, with no visible signs that it will meet the same fate…]

[Word begins to spread of a series of raids performed by the private military contractor known as La Compagnie du Phénix. In just as many days since the first of Septembre, senior command staff with the Compagnie, collectively known as La Garde de Commandement, have been seen congregating and organizing military raids against well-known criminal hideouts. Early into the morning of the third of Septembre, a series of bright flashes of light in rapid succession numbering twenty or more events emanated from a barren stretch of the Baie de Sable, and just as many thunderous sounds followed in their wake. Whispers and gossip suggest the area was cordoned off by top-ranking Compagnie brass under the pretenses of, "The safety and well-being of the Dementlieuse public," with Gendarmerie Nationale Officer Corps oversight in what is being called a routine training exercise and a demonstration of the Compagnie's field siege equipment capabilities.]

While news of the latest scandal to wrack house Vaillant is initially greeted among both the commons and nobility with scorn for the cuckolded Baron, prominent voices within the nobility are quick to silence such talk among their circles. Instead, they heap sympathy and praise upon the Baron de Duchbourg's dedication to the noble traditions of Léon, and celebrate his prospects for the future.

Further rumors spread that the newly made bastard, Fleury Vaillant, his wife, his half-brother the Baron de Fincelles, and a former compatriot of post-Revolutionary icons Guy Maurice and Felix Touré, ran straight to the penthouse suite of the Baroness d'Estellier, where they remained for several hours.

In the East, the old conspirators of the Solemn Covenant whisper discontent that the supporters of the former Provisional Government are finally receiving their comeuppance on razor-thin pretense. Under scrutiny of the Gendarme occupation at Ameranthe, however, such grumbles are impotent.

Emeric Desrosiers is seen being followed back from the Publique by Somnia Venenum, after he refused to speak to her on the Terraces. She follows him inside the hotel, wherein his voice can be heard shouting at her to leave him alone. She herself departs the hotel angrily soon after.

A hooded woman, some whispers calling her a famed stage magician's assistant, is seen leaving the city through the western gates; she does not return in the morning.

In the night a large painting and statement in Low Mordentish is left prominently on a terrace wall:

The painting features a male figure in a red coat, a sneer on his indistinct features. At his side is a female figure: gagged, bound in chains, eyes downcast. She wears a bridal gown. Both of them have indistinct forms. Over the painting the following words are written:

"Vaillant likes his wives like he likes his workers: shackled and disposable.
"

Using a canvas nearby the last, a painter Graffitis the front of the banque with a plum tree with roots extending into a pool of red smeared indistinct faces, all set in an expression of agony.

The words: "Tsuika. Now with real Gundarakite blood!" accompany it.

There are screams of shock and gasps of outrage near the bay, as a Barovian man reels back
and hits a smaller, hooded man hard enough to make him spit blood.
The two share words for a few moments more, before parting seemingly amicably.
One heads to the Marchand, the other staying behind.

The infamously fickle terraces, salons, and parlors of Port-a-Lucine are a cacophony of whispered innuendo and cruel rumor, making claims that many of the city's most prominent up-and-coming nobility have been caught up secret assignations, debauchery, and even conspiracy. The hints and gossip spread like a wildfire set by a hundred arsonists feigning reluctance and pity, and the fanned flames promise to burn more than one house to the foundations. Ambitious men and women of means wait impatiently for the truth to come to light, like vultures poised to pick the charred meat from out of the ashes...

The allegedly corrupt Gendarme Rouen Chasseur is once again, led into the cells of the Gendarmerie and does not return.

The former Sargent-Inspecteur, Sieur Jacques Boucher, enters the Gendarmerie of his own volition alongside legal counsel, the Chairwoman of the Workers' Congress. His counsel departs shortly after, but he does not return.

The infamous Gendarme, Beauregard, unlike everyone else, emerges from the Gendarmerie Barracks, without her omni-present uniform, or lamp. She leaves the barracks and does not return, taking up residence in the manor retreat.

Once more Charlotte Beauregard is seen doing something strange. Dressed in the latest fashion from Emmanulle Perrier herself, a flowing floor length silk dress, the now ex-Gendarme is seen visiting the Palais itself. Staying for around an hour she emerges, looking somewhat unwell before retreating wordlessly to her new residence in the manor retreat.

Sobs and wails of grief in a male voice can be hear echoing for a time from Guest Room II of the Hotel; the room held by the late Eglantine Desrosiers.

Brielle Desrosiers, somber in expression, with bags under her eyes and tear stained cheeks would be seen leaving through the East Gate with her Grandfather, the Marquis de Valey. They moved arm in arm, supporting one another until they boarded a caravan and set off for their estate in Valey.

A Warden of Ezra with cheerful disposition is spied posting notices about the district; she greets all who she encounters, offers aide to those who appear to need it, and spends time offering healing and comforts to those that accept – at whatever cost to time and resource may be required. She encourages those that see her posting the notices to attend.

The notices indicate an upcoming Fifth Day Sermon to be held at the Ste. Mere – and identify the Warden as Abigail Shuttleworth, the woman holding the event.

[A courier is said to have arrived with a package from Mordent addressed to Monsieur Cornelius Valcourt in the early morning, much to his excitement.  As the day winded down, the young Valcourt gentleman could be seen pacing around the halls of the Manor Retreat on the occasion he was not tirelessly writing letters and discharging them via couriers of his own to many places amongst the city, from the palais to the Quartier Savant and beyond.]
