Crafting Suggestion: Polishing
« on: April 25, 2009, 05:19:19 PM »
Just got an idea:

We can smith weapons.

Then we can add silver to give an attack bonus against werecreatures.

What about creating a new category inside smithing: polishing.

In my opinion it should use Dexterity and Wisdom (to feel the blade) and would work to creat masterwork weapons (the +1 against everything), massive critical weapons, weapons more well balanced (+1 or more parry or discipline).
Noignar Huillen: Ilmater Cleric.
Hedien Gine: Arrow and Bow Artist.
Dolin Schneim: Dwarven Soldier

I always thought it would be nice if on a roll of 20 on the skill check, it checked to see if you exceeded the necessary DC by so many points(say 10 or more) then you got a 10% chance to recieve 1 additional property that was befitting the type of item.  for example...Weapons could recieve either the Keen or Massive Crit property(but not both)  Armors might recieve a small damage redux vs one type of damage or another, bows could be given something as well(nothing coming to mind at the moment).

It would be difficult for the higher end DC items to surpass the DC by enough for them to be common, but might provide some lesser gear with more benefits that make them more useful, and less likely to be trashed.  Having it be a random chance, and a random bonus would provide some variety in the end results and increase the likelyhood of the items being slightly more unique.

Cool ideas. You can add a lot of massive criting to a weapon and keep it under the @8K range. But, keening alone pushes the weapons price through the roof. Not sure if they'd allow that in, for that reason.
