Finding light in the darkness - Falon's story
« on: March 16, 2009, 02:44:22 PM »
(the following is are memories from Falon's life before the mist took her)

She looks around the room.  The room looks nice , but it is a prison.  She sighs knowing that soon another man will have her paraded out with the others like livestock and if she is not lucky he will pick her and she will be in hell yet again.
She does not want to be here, in this place.  But this is all she know, this is where she has been since he found her.  She had left home early. Living in the streets.  Starving, cold and so alone.  Then one night he appeared.  He offered to buy her a meal and get her a warm place to sleep.  He was so nice and handsome and she was young and naive.  He sat and talked to her all that first night she felt so special.

She fell for him, for the act he had performed for her.  She was so very naive and gullable.  Everything seemed so good at first, he told her how he loved her and how he would care for her.  She submitted to him. She did what ever he asked.  Never questioned anything he said.  She was his, cause she thought he loved her.  The days were happy for her, she did what ever he wished of her.  Pleasing him was all that mattered.

Those happy days did not last.  Soon she realized that there was a price to pay for his love.  He had been so loving at first, she had been so overjoyed at feeling love.  Now there were fits of rage and her sitting alone bruised and broken.  He had such a temper and so much strength. She tried to be perfect, tried to be and do as he wanted.  Times were hard for her but she kept trying, anything to see and feel the love again.  Looking back on it now she knows she was a slave to this man, but then she thought that this was what love was.

Her tasks complete, she sat waiting for him quietly and alone.  She wondered what mood he would be in tonight, hoping it would be a good one.  The house so quiet and dark.  She had lit only one candle and that was on the table.  She sat on the floor in the corner, hugging her knees to her chest.  She liked the darkness, how it hid the pain.  He was home she could hear him outside and he was not alone.  She crawled out of her corner, trying to smooth the wrinkles from her dress.  She hurried to light more candles.  As he opened the door she stood in her place and lowered her head.  She looked up briefly he was smiling.  Maybe tonight was going to be a good night she thought.  He told her he had a gift for her.  She nodded obediently smiling slightly.  He turned to the other man who then stepped forward, handing him what looked to her to be a metal ring.  The other man then stepped back.  She looked up to him wondering what was going on.  He told her that tonight he would make her his, he slid his arms around her, slowly raising them along her back until his hands rested behind her neck.  She heard metal creek. "you are mine now and forever" he said.  She felt something cold around her neck.  She heard the sound of the latch close.  He lifted her chin and kissed her.  She lifted her hands to her neck touching the cold metal.  Her thoughts raced, Oh god a collar.

Collared.  No longer her own, now she is his. Her mind and spirit broken by his will.  She sees herself as property now.  She knows that there is no love, no light in this world.  Just the pain and sadness she feels.  He comes to her and has his way.  She look now to the times he is away for at least then she has the darkness to hide in.  The darkness so cold and quiet it welcomes her  drawing her in to its embrace.

The darkness came to her and she embraced it.  Her mind broken it does what it can to save her, it locks that side of her that is good and fragile away.  She emerges from the darkness different.  She was stronger, no longer afraid of the pain and the hurt.  She is obedient and quiet and he likes it.  He likes that there are no more tears.  He likes that there are no fight when he offers her to his friends.

She lives in the darkness now, never seeing the light.  He takes her to the brothel to talk to the madam. He tells the madam she would be a good addition. He speaks of her obedience's, of her willingness to please with no complaints.  The madam looks her over and smiles wickedly.  The madam agrees.  The madam takes her by the hand leading her back down a hallway to her room.

Now she works pleasing others to earn him money.  She does not complain or try and leave even though she hates every minute.  She believes she is his property that she must do as he says.  She works at the brothel most nights and the nights she does not she is at home with him.  This is her life for months.

She is tutored in how to sing and play instruments.  She is expected to perform music for the customers as they wait or choose.  The madam is pleased with her ability to sing and learn music.  She begins to find some pleasure in the times she is preforming, a small bit of peacefulness falls over her as the music flows from her.  For these short moments that she performs she begins to feel the light again.

The light is dim and she feels it only when she plays music.  Her tutor brings her a violin and she begins her lessons.  She finds she has a passion for playing the violin.  She loves to play, she waits for the times she can perform.  He comes to watch her some nights as she performs.  He does not care for the music complaining that she could be earning more working in her room.  When they are home he forbids her from playing.

The sickness comes, but she works through it.  Never complaining or telling anyone.  Some nights it take everything in her just to smile as she is paraded out.  Her stomach turning, her body aching, she worries about what is wrong.

She suffers in silence as the sickness continues.  Two months now and it does not seem to be getting any better.  The madam pulls her aside asking her if she well, she lies and tells the madam that she is fine.  The madam looks her over thoroughly.  She knows that the madam does not believe her.  She will have to be more careful to hide her sickness.

She learns to act... to hide her true feelings from those around her. She is what ever they wish her to be.  The sickness finally starts to lessen.  She finally thinks things are going to get back to normal.

The other girls, they pull her aside.  She breaks down and confesses to them .  The Madam watches her closely.  She knows the madam suspects.  She knows that the madam will be unpleased.  Worse yet she knows that this will anger him.

A baby.  She lays her hand on her swollen belly.  She smiles as she feels the baby move.  She sings hoping the baby can hear her.  The baby becomes her light, it becomes her reason for living.
He is upset about the baby, he beat her good when he found out.  She could not work for a week, which only fueled his anger.  He threatens her everyday saying he is going to take care of the problem, that she will not have the baby.  She worries that he is serious.  That he will follow through with the threat.

His anger grows with each passing day.  She tries to be perfect hoping that her obedience will buy the baby's safety.  She knows he is mad that she can not work, the madam told her to come back after the baby's birth.  He hits her and tells her how worthless she is.  That she would be a terrible mother, that no whore should be a mother.  He reminds her that she was nothing when he found her.  That he has given her everything she has.  He grabs her collar holding it tightly, pulling up on it so as she has to stand on her tip toes. "You are mine Falon.... and you will not do anything i say you can not.... there will be no baby in this house."

She stands alone in the darkness and listens to the foot steps approaching the door.  She can hear him yelling,  he is in a bad mood.  She must try her hardest to please him quickly.  He burst through the door.  She winces as he yells her name, she knows now that this is going to be a bad night.  She runs and stands before him.  He reaches out and grabs her collar and tugs it hard towards him, she can smell the whiskey on his breath.  He narrows his eyes at her.  She flinches and it angers him, he raises his hand and slaps her.

Her face burns and bares his hand print.  His grip is tight around the collar, he has it lifted so she can barely feel her feet touching the ground.  "I told you before... you are mine Falon." his breath foul making her want to gag.  Panic sets in as she realized that she was at his mercy.  She knows she is not strong enough to stop him from beating her.  She puts her hands on his chest and tries to push herself away.  He laughs as she struggles to get away.  " You will not get away from me no matter where you go.. what you do I will find you." he says with a smirk.

She tries to fight him off.  Tries in vain to stop the fists as they come at her.  He hits her so hard she flies back and hits the wall slumping to the floor.  She instinctively curls into the fetal position trying to protect her belly and the baby with in.  He continues to strike her, beating her more then he ever had before.  She thinks this is it... that she will die before he is done.  Then her instincts kick in and she realizes she has to live. She has to save the baby.  She screams and strikes out at him her fingernails digging into the skin on the side of him face.  She hears him growl with pain.

She looks up and sees the blood that runs from the scratches on his cheek.  She feels his hand tighten around neck, her body pressed against the wall.  She tries to cry out but all that comes is a gasp.  He narrows his eyes at her as he reaches up with his right hand touching his face seeing his blood on his fingers.  His eyes harden.  She struggles to try and get away but his grip only tightens.  He hits her so hard that her ears ring and she feels like the room is spinning.  He continues beating her until she is almost unconscious.  He lets go of her and she falls again to the floor.  He kicks her so hard that it knocks the wind from her.  As she lays there gasping trying desperately to get air back in her lungs, he walks away.  As he returns she sees the light flash off of something in his hand.  He leans over her "you are mine Falon, and this is the end.".  He raises his hand above her and she stops struggling as she sees the knife.  Her mind freezes as he brings the knife down, plunging it deep into her stomach.  Twice more she sees him raise his hand, twice more she feels the pain as he stabs her.  Then the blackness comes.

Slowly the darkness lifts and she opens her eyes.  She looks around her eyes struggling to focus.  Her body is racked with pain, her skin feels on fire.  A face comes into view, fuzzy and a blur.  She hears a voice talking telling her to lay still.  She feels the cold cloth placed upon her brow. " You are very ill Falon, you must lay still and try and rest."  She knows the voice, It is one of the girls from the brothel.  Her head swims as she tries to figure out where she is and what has happened.

The fever breaks.  She awakens in a room at the brothel.  Her body aches, but slowly her head begins to clear.  She has flashes of memories. Someone talking to her, caring for her.  Then there is flashes of her crying, fighting, trying to get away.  Her mind races as she remembers the glint off the knife.  She slowly reaches her hand up to touch her stomach afraid to look down.  She cries out as she feels her now flat stomach.  "The baby, where is the baby?" she screams.

The girl take turns coming and talking to her, bringing her food.  They tell her that they have buried the baby.  That they have buried her son.  Her heart aches as she realizes she will never see his sweet face, hear his cries.  She lays there her mind retreating inward , the darkness coming engulfing her.  She hears only one word in the darkness, Tobias.

She stays in the darkness not wanting the light.  She thinks often to the man that has robbed her of everything.  The madame comes and tells her that he is come to take her back home.  She does not want to go back but she knows that it is not her choice.  She returns with him to the house.  Returns to her life as his slave.  She resumes her duties not saying a word and keeping her head lowered, submissive.  He thinks he has won that he has broken her.  When she is alone, when the darkness surrounds her she hears the whispers.  They tell her to make him pay for what he has done, make him pay for the life he has stolen.  Slowly her strength returns, and as it does the more the darkness calls to her.

The darkness is comforting, it is safe.  She spends most of her time alone.  She moves about the house doing her duties.  Her mind retreating inward she barely speaks anymore.  As the sun begins to set she starts to prepare his dinner.  She hears him as he approaches the house she hurries to get the dinner finished, knowing there will be hell to pay if it is not ready.  She runs to place the plate on the table as he walks through the door.  She stand in her spot head down praying the meal will please him.  He sits down and looks to the food a frown creasing his features.  He takes a bite and spits the food back on to the plate.  "IT'S COLD!" he yells as he jumps up out of his chair sending it flying back.  She cowers, wincing at his raised voice.  As he looks over to her his eyes full of rage, the voices come to her whispering in her mind.  They tell her to be strong to make him pay.  He grabs her throwing her down on the table.  Her back hits the table hard causing the air to rush from her lungs.  He leans over her putting his hands around her throat.  The voices scream in her head, telling her to defend herself make him pay.  As he puts pressure on her neck she flings her arms about the table reaching for anything.  Suddenly she feels something a wooden handle she grips it, and swings her hand at him.  He gasps as he feels a the knife enter the side of his neck.  He releases his grip on his neck as he reaches up grabbing the wound.  The voices grow louder in her head screaming at her to to end her suffering to make him pay.  Rage fills her mind she gives in.  She jumps up and lunges at him again, he stumbles back trying to get away.  A dark smile crosses her features as he slips and falls back.  She leaps onto him and buries the knife deep into his chest.  She stabs him again and again only stopping when his arms fall to the floor and he lays still.
