@walk mode ~ feedback
« on: February 19, 2009, 11:19:42 AM »
Funniest thing ever, it's like running but slowly. The emote is hilarious, it actually reminds me of running under water

Hmm, strange, it seemed like walking when I tested it, though higher ratios turned it into this slow-running. How consistent is this? Other's experiences?

Interesting, when you use point and click while in walk mode, everything looks fine, when using keypad to walk, that's when i get this running underwater effect and the halfing still looks like he's running while in walking speed.

Hmm, yeah, found the same - but don't think there's much to do at current. I figure if you use the key's mainly to move around, you'll not need the walk mode as much. If it helps some, it's good enough to keep :)

What happens is basically you are going the normal speed, but your legs aren't moving as fast as they should for that speed lol. So your legs are moving as if you are encumbered but your speed is normal.

How does this work? is it an emote? and how do you turn it off if you need to run?

Type "@walk" to  to activate walk, then type it again to deactivate it.

Just type in @walk.  I put it on the tool bar so I didn't have to type it just click.  Works great for me.

As a barbarian with +10% speed, I do the underwater run thing if I use the keyboard or if I click with the mouse, so the walk mode doesn't work either way.

It should probably check for the class and level (for monks) and adjust the speed according to that.  I know on a previous server I had played on, one of the monks took light armor proficiency, just so he could put it on and walk around normally and not feel like a freak.

Stealth mode works good for walking, and you get the occasional vanishing effect...also barter with a person like this to auto follow, its fool proof!!!  :P

It just seemed too bizarred using stealth mode to walk with a party.  As for the rest, too many moving parts.   ;)

I'm not sure @ is the wisest prefix for a command such as @walk or @follow.

I forsee many people throwing out a minor typo in haste and altering their bio by mistake.

This isn't much useful to me, if you want to click and walk(Not run) just enter in detection mode, you'll walk normaly, except elvens.
Well, the only good use of @walk in my case is when I wanna roleplay that I'm walking very slow. Given example: I have this druid, then I was like *Goes into the bush carefuly* - RPing a situation where I wanted to do less damage possible against the plants.

after some playing with the @walk command, I discovered that without fail, I walk emote at walk pace with no weapons drawn, but run emote at walk pace when I equip a weapon.

I hope that helps to discover a fix if one is possible.

Edit  It seems that walking with a spear works fine, but with a bow it is bugged... not sure if it effects other weapons as well or not.
