Area - Blood o the Vine Layout
« on: January 11, 2009, 09:13:52 AM »
Also, if I may make a request for that particular inn? Please put in either signs or map notes denoting which rooms are the "Common," "Couple," or "Private" rooms. It was my first time going there today and it took me about five minutes to find my way around. Actually I don't like the overall structure of that particular area at all... it's improbably huge and the floor layout makes no sense. I walk in the front door and it feels like I have to go through half the building to get to the bar where the NPCs are at and where I can buy a room for the night. Just sayin'.

If I remember correctly, there used to be signs at least for the common room.

Yeah, on my second runthrough there I found the sign. But it still doesn't help the fact that the building is hard to navigate. And actually I found that the layout makes a little more sense now compared to the exterior of the building, and it's not as big (comparatively) as I thought, but just some map notes or something would be good. If I have to run around a certain place enough to make me question OOC what the architect was thinking, then that leads to a loss of game immersion. I dunno, just a thought.

I think there may be an IC reason why the  layout of the Blood 'o the Vine is so confusing.

Perhaps the architect was an alcoholic?... that's one of the reasons an intersection near where I live is so messed up.

Goddamn it. They really need to nerf ninjas in the next update.

No, but the Architect probably wasn't HUMAN.

Rooms with entirely interior walls which means no windows and no mirrors in the rooms when nearly every other inn room I've ever seen has them. I'd agree the design probably wasn't done by human and despite the warren maze feeling, probably wasn't a Svirfneblin either.

I could just run into the room and punch you in the balls; sure, that's scary. That's entertainment. But it isn't horror...

Point has been made people ;) Keep in mind that the Blood of the wine was a very early area in the module, I'll bring it up on the next dev meeting.

sorry for the necrobump on this, but to explain the layout: it's based on the pre-existing PnP maps from the Forbidden Lore boxed set. I made as close as I could in NWN, given the limitations of the tilesets and the unusual layout of the building in the original maps.

would it be possible to have a sign outside the room doors or on the mini map marking which rooms where common, couple or private rooms?

yeah, I'm in the middle of tweaking it aesthetically with some new placeables anyway, should be easy enough to do. :)

Yes, I have had the image of the inn from the boxset out while I explored it before, I thought it was a faithful representation.  :P I have to assume the /rest/ of it is there too
