They should be fairly commonly attainable as Dementlieu is a highly-cultured land where superstitions are by far less prominent than in Barovia.

And to my knowledge VR's works are not banned or prohibited there.
Better to write for yourself and have no public, than to write for the public and have no self.

To the point you can purchase copies in book stores and read them in public libraries?

Might become a problem for Barovia when everyone will have the collection exported from Dementlieu.  :?

Well, that means people will be searched and more than likely made an example of if caught with them. I think EO mentioned that the VR books are looked upon as fiction or entertainment or was it curiosities? Don't know about the public bookdealers, but the Grand Library might have some.

If I remember right,  they quite possibly may be found in the grand library among others, but they are most likely looked upon as curiousities, as very little Dementlieu citizens have ever experienced anything like the creatures described in the books.

They just see the things referred to in the books in their wax museum.   8)

Even most Barovians live entire lives without ever seeing a monster.  But they believe in them, nonetheless.

I think having the occassional book search by the vallaki guard could be fun, however, we'd have to figure out how to handle it, since nobody really icly carries everything that is on their person around.

There isn't a safe way to hide a book due to engine limitations, so they are lugged around in bags.

I can think of a certain place that books could be hidden at.. two, now, actually. Might make for something interesting.

VR's Books are probably seen like WE see books encylopediazing monsters.

I was wondering why somebody trashed the Bibliotecque store in the southwest Marketplace.  Do you think they might have gotten a hold of a Van Richten original?  :?

We actually ran an event last night that should shed some light on that little mystery. ;)

It is a very VERY rare character that if searched wouldn't be found less than suspicious...

Take my Ezrite for instance... he has a shady past and a questionable up bringing before being saved by the faith from a life of crime...

He still carries 'momentoes'... if searched, well... its not lockpicks perse but its questionable... then there is a witchfire torch... thats suspicious as witchery... then there are potions etc

And hes the best of them!

Even witchhunters - if searched - are likely to be found with questionable items

And Otake, Wulfgang Eberhardt, Aesin, Humiko, Bonereaver, Anthrania + whatever concept I am playing with...

It was really bad when Noica and the Vallaki guard were searching people in the outskirts for a dead person's body parts and I just so happened to have a random person's severed head in my inventory.
