Areas - Can we move the dancing Nymph?
« on: September 22, 2008, 08:15:23 AM »
Firstly its location is woeful - right across from a place that reeks of rotting rat flesh...

2ndly - Calibans take a BIGGER risk of running into a fight as they run by the place to drop off rats for cash... I ended up hiding last night - thank goodness they didnt spot me before I spotted them but they were buffing etc... I legged it around the corner and PRAYED they wouldnt come for me... (Fighters don't hide well in splint armour)

And Otake, Wulfgang Eberhardt, Aesin, Humiko, Bonereaver, Anthrania + whatever concept I am playing with...

Actually, I agree but not for the same reasons. This is supposedely a gentleman's club: what is it doing in the worst area possible? If it was combined with a resting area (upstairs?) I would think the nymph is all the blue water ever hoped to be.

It's not really a gentleman's club, despite the claims... it's a casino or gambling den and as such quite fitting where it is now.

A "true" gentleman's club would probably be more like the Blue Water with a few added leisure activities and without the rooms upstairs (something like a medieval/renaissance version of the gentleman's clubs of victorian England).

I wonder if one of the buildings on the west side of the market district could be used.  The Drowned Rat (think thats the name), unless if it has a secret use, is in a nice location.

Then again, from an outcast/caliban point of view, having the extra degree of risk trying to get to the ratter could make things more interesting.

As much as I -love- this new area, dont get me wrong. . . . it might have been nice to see an already existent area like the Blue Water expanded IC'ly. As it is, theres no many inns and places to sit and drink, it's sometimes difficult to even find people to rp with.

Not to mention it would only cater to humans.. any non-human would be thrown out if it was setup at the Blue Water.

Oh, I didn't know that.

Must be because I haven't played a non-human in a long time.

Actually, the location makes sense.

Character A spends all day ratting, goes and sells the rats for a good chunk of change to Rulinus, walks out looking for something good to spend that hunk of money burning a hole in their pocket on, sees the Prancing Nymph, gambles all that hard earned money away, or possibly strikes it rich.

I'd say that the owners noticed that the Outlanders tend to have a lot of coins, and picked a prime location for the Casino right where the rich outlanders come out of.  :D

So the question goes begging - who is funding Rulinus?

If its Stradh he may find his budget going backwards

And yes - i know - its a Game/server Mechanic for newer players etc

Umpton is a wino wine connoisseur so he didn't notice the good stuff... He'll need to look at the bar selection much more closely.

That said, I still think moving it a street or two is not a bad idea - that area reeks of rotting rat flesh and sewerage as adventurers trudge their crap stained boots up the street. Its not a true gentlemans club but it is aiming for SOME class.

Was this recently changed?  Dribo bought food, drink, and rooms there all the time, and never had an issue with it.

Yeah, it's based on OcR rating.

They won't sell Sedrik a room, either.

I suck at abbreviations.  What's "OcR"?

Aha.  So the only thing more repulsive than a caliban is an evil caliban...unless it's an evil caliban who's with the Sewer Dwellers?  Something like that...?  :?
