[scrawled across the notice's foot with a dull quill]

What use have you for wood?  Different woods have differing qualities and differing uses, and I would harvest for the need.  Beechwood is easily shaved and cut but is good for little more than bolts, arrows and cheap, disposable bows.  Yewwood's resilience yields bows which bend further without snapping, sending arrows forth with greater force.  Oakwood is too firm for bowyering, yet its renowned sturdiness makes for superb shields.  And ashwood's resilience to breaking is legendary, putting the lithe yew to shame.  But I would need to travel far and brave many dangers to gather ashwood, and I would expect greater pay for that.

Cherrywood is also a stout wood for shields, and mahogany would make shields and other goods which our people's elite would find desirable.  A pity, it is, that neither tree grows in this region.
