Atlantia Beaumont (long overdue)

Years ago in the city of baldurs gate a babe was laid at the door of the academy of sorcery with in the city.  The night was foggy, cold, and wet. No warmth seemed to be about on that night and the locals were agast at recent events and rumors of the dead rising from their graves in the local grave yard. Still, with a heavy knock, the door was answered and an old wizened man opened the large doors to see the child.
The child was a baby female human, and though typically the academy was never considered an orphonage, the old mage examined her and took her in, for he saw something different about her. Years passed, and the babe grew into a girl and later  a young woman. She was given a room, and as the rest of the students, isolated from those of the opposite gender and required to go to classes and study the various lores, histories, and tomes of magic which the academy offered to its students.  Atlantia, was the name she was given, Beaumont the surname, after some hero that the mages had history of but she was only vaguely aware of.  For some reason, the mages encouraged her in her studies, evocation and enchantment, causing her to focus on it intently as she grew and little else.
Dispite everything and the classes she attended, Atlantia isolated her self more than any of the other students, keeping to the library and later becomming the assistant cataloguer there. She loved to read, which struck some of her teachers as odd, for all of them knew she gained her powers from with in and not from long hours of study. Still, she was fascinated with history and lore. And rather than socialize with the other students, she spent most of her time carefully reading old tales, histories, and later works of fiction and prose.
Nearing the end of her schooling she took the test to gain her license for the city, and she passed, though her position was not one of the enforcers, instead she was to become tha true assistant of the libraries with in the academy. Still, once she passed her test, her teachers had other plans for her as well, and she was to be married off to one of the local nobles for a sizable donation to the school. She was devistated at the fact of having to be bound to some old letcherous and fat noble, and in the night she stole away, leaving the academy and running through the back alleys of the city to try and escape what ever cards fate had dealt her.
But fate, would deal her a new hand.  As she reached the dock, Atlantia was set upon by several nere well to do men, which proceeded to chase her. Jeering and taunting of what they would do to such a pretty thing once they caught up with her. The alley ways were misty, to the point that she could barely see where she was running, and she could hear the men catching up to her. She had never cast a spell to harm another until that day, and with such force and panic she turned, and let out a torrent of flame, which she believes burned her assailants alive.  Turning once more after the release she ran again, horrified at what she had done, crying and not paying attention, nor able to see in the misty alley ways she ran into a wall. . .where. . the next thing she recalls is awaking just out side of the vistani camp.
