[In the dead of night, a raiding party of hobgoblins descended upon Degannwy and the Autumn Grove -- the goblinoid host, while fearsome and full of hate for elvenkind, was turned away by stalwart defenders. While a skilled ranger died in what seemed to be an ambush, he was revived somehow by virtue of some silver-haired cousin's blessings -- truly, a miracle, as the life of an elf is not so easily replaced. The elves of the Autumn Grove can be seen disposing of dead hobgoblins all through the early morning...]

"An elderly time chiselled man visits Degannwy and speaks directly with the revered Lorelei. The two exchange words with shared
smiles and signs of respect before he takes four large venerated Elven tomes and sits himself by the waters outside, near the fallen stone
structure; relaxing and studying the acquired books with a keen intensity and focus."

The peaceful tranquility of the sylvan grove is briefly interrupted by the raving speech of a red hooded preacher. The lone missionary issues a sermon extolling the manifest destiny and divine virtue of humanity. His words are met with silence as the snow falls upon the ancient boughs of towering pine trees. The woodland guards would make note that the loud human is careful not to step directly into the Marquessa’s Realm.

A man with dusky skin and dark hair arrived at the gates of Degannwy just before sunset. He had the look of a Barovian, but upon closer examination his features would appear slightly angulated, the most noticeable would be moss green eyes, not common amongst natives. Speaking the eleven tongue, he requested a room for the night..

A beautiful young Elven woman has been brought to dwell in Degannwy, along with her half-Elven daughter of three years age. Some note she looks like a Moon Elf, while others comment on the fact her white hair and pale skin seem oddly un-natural. Neither seem able to confirm or deny however, as this woman, Snow, has trouble speaking properly and does not seem to have any recollection of her native tongue, or of her past beyond an experience with a man she simply knows as 'Old Master'...

Three Elves, two females and one male, entered Degannwy as night fell. They held a quiet ceremony in a secluded area of the grove that could only have been a wedding, performed according to the obscure rites of the Green Lord. Afterward, the bride and groom retired to their privacy, while the third Elf disappeared into the forest.

In the morning but some hours after sunrise, longtime vagabond Kenthelag Maeve could be seen going about Degannwy, cheerfully whistling as he gathered various provisions for what seemed to be the intention of a long stay. He had a dumb but happy look on his face.

A chest is set down outside Nant Gaerwyn by a moon elf dressed in woodland greens. Beside it, a sign proclaims its contents are 'free to Kin', and signed with the name 'Daewyn Orle'valsa'.

Arguments rage, heated and personal, in the usually peaceful grove, when two travelers bear a wounded man into Nant Gaerwyn. Followed shortly by green-clad and rosy-clad cultists, the more frequent residents of Degannwy make clear a distinct lack of welcome, an energy of unrest and urgency, bidding them all away.

In the swiftly passing time, however, apparently irate members of the Vallaki Guard make their presence known at the gate. Shortly after, with further noise from all parties, within and without the walls, all visitors leave. Under growing night, the Autumn Grove falls into a silence that evokes unease in the passing of such great emotion.

The coverings of one of the peaceful resting rooms upstairs, so often used for respite and recuperation, are burned. The carpets are removed, and tossed to ultimate destruction in a bonfire outside the enclave's gates.

The somber Elven archer would be seen more often within the sanctions of the grove. He'd spend his time tending to the beautification of the peaceful retreat, pruning the trees, seeing that the plant life was in good health, and clearing the mess left by the local wildlife.

He spoke little, at most he'd offer nods in passing while continuing to work with determination. In his moments of respite he would spend his time by the falls with his eyes shut, a frigid energy surrounding him.

Recent rumor within the elven encampment speaks of an attack within the havens confines, perpetuated by a vampire.  A woman was hurled off the cliffs behind the settlement, and a number of the natural denizens of the forest camp were slain by an enslaved thrall.  While the Marquessa has yet to speak her will in the matter, supposedly one of the oldest defenders of Degannwy has been roused into action; and is now actively hunting the vampire known as "Vashan."

In recent weeks a short, gregarious human in leathers and furs has recently returned to pray and stargaze. He seems to be searching for those attuned to the natural world to commune with and to discuss the affairs of the land.

A druids' moot is held by the grove surrounding the grave of Yggdrasil where numerous figures of different origins and races met and spoke at length under locals' hospitality.

The gathering ended with the announcement of the formation of a new druidic circle known as 'The Roaming Circle'.

a great tragedy came of the elven village: nine kin had gone missing last night
survivors say to have seen a red claded mage and two calibans following him
the corpses got robbed and taken to an unknown place
Gwerydd claims this man posed to be a help in the absence of Lorelei - yet he appeared to be a real monster in the end

---

through the endless help of many Lorelei could be ressurected from her shadow state and is now guarding the village once more
she is trying to figure out what disturbance of nature had happened in the last nights.

A contingent of Morninglordians makes its way into the southern forest and encamps outside of Degannwy. There, a series of wooden barricades are erected to aid the defence of the settlement. Some shacks are also erected, indicating the Morninglordians will be staying a few nights at least.

"Oh woe be to heroes, see how they fall in their hundreds. A thousand righteous causes slaked wet with the life blood of many a good man; truly these men and women who now face the Darkrider, who now face the bad death, the painful end, are now in the claws of conflict bloody."

Many brave men and women gathered to the defence of Degannwy, the host of the Black Rose ravished the land. And there is even talk of the one who first brought him into the Barovia, the Designer. The Red Beast. Whatever the name we live now with the consequences.

Late into the morning when an enspelled man appears near the encampment outside Degannwy, the settlement's protectors take up defensive positions and warn him to fly, despite being amiable to other passersby. A brief flurry of spells erupt, then there is hollering of victory that continues until well after dark.

Periodically, these forces reform, changing the positions of fortifications, replacing the old and battered with the new and sturdy. Travelers come and go freely & defenders leave the lines to rest or to patrol as they please, but the defenders of Degannwy stand vigilant.

"Oh, wooden glade and place of rest. What now when trees turn black and leaves fall from their branches and collect on the field of war, like so many grains through the hour glass of life. But these aren't grain or even leaf matter, these fallen were once men."

Degannwy, once again suffered under the cruel eye's of crueller men. Attentions now that have turned so much life into death. The forest glade was once again attacked.

As Degannwy recovered, the defense was again organized. Runners were sent to bring more defenders and the barricades were once again brought up. Whoever did this, it was fast .

"Silence."

The forces of darkness once again stood against Degannwy, but unlike many times before the heroes were ready and weathered the storm. Some were slain others captured; and even rumours of the fell Designer who had first called the host of darkness into the forest glade had been slain. Others yet still said he lived. Who can say the reality now but those who had been there.

In the morning hours, two women--one in the Morninglord's colors and another more darkly clothed--place warm blankets at the jail site and lay canvas over the barricades to provide some relief from the rain. The Morninglord acolyte returns with a bowl of stew, laying it out, but otherwise keeping her distance.

Later in the day, a man in a cream trench-coat commonly known as 'Thatcher', approached the hastily cobbled together fortifications surrounding the plateau nearest the Elven settlement. Within the space of several hours he had removed most of the excess barricades and walls, leaving behind a simple, yet effective defence. His gravelly, raspy voice could be heard barking out orders in the middle of the night as watches were interchanged and scouting parties were sent out and around the plateau. Wisps of smoke followed the mans every step, acrid and overpowering in its scent.
