Vallaki - Western Outskirts

An enormous black werewolf attacked several unfortunate souls just outside the Morninglord Temple, leaving a Hin woman nearly dead before killing her companion and carrying off his body. Witnesses say the brute felled the Hin with a single blow. She was dragged inside and revived by others, only to have the great beast scratch and pound on the door as though the first victim were but an appetizer that whetted its maw for the main course. The Morninglord priestess calmed the many frightened travellers who huddled near her throughout the night until dawn forced the monster to depart. None dared challenge its reign over the Outskirts in the meantime.

Blood and mangled bodies were left scattered across the countryside in its wake.

Granted courage by the winter sun, a piecemeal crew of amateur adventurers set off tracking it and did not return. Whether the foolhardy foursome fell victim to the shapeshifter's hunger for human flesh or simply became confused by mink tracks no one can say at the present.

In recent days, a fell creature had been lurking around Vallaki and its surroundings.  Adventurerers and locals alike have been waking up to find mangled remains of both animals and humans alike spread across the countryside.  Vicitims have been torn apart, and messily devoured—a ghastly scene each time its been found.  It seems most recently the graveyard behind the Morninglord's temple in the outskirts recently had a fresh grave reopened and the corpse torn apart.  Whatever is behind this, it is vicious and hungry...

Rumours begin to circulate of an upcoming funeral at the Morning Lord church. Whom ever is being buried their identity seems to have been only uttered to a few individuals. Some might of heard tell that it's a gundarakite witch that is being given a new home in the cold, Barovian ground.

Rumors spread of laborers gone missing at the edge of evening, in the outskirts of Vallaki's farmland. Sometimes nothing is found of them. Sometimes... parts. What is found, however, shows the tell-tale marks of the teeth of a human... or something that once was.

Perhaps related to the missing laborers, an Outlander  woman arrived out of breath in front of the Morninglord Temple near dusk, relating a tale of something that had attacked her and killed her "pet." A second woman, she said, had observed whatever the ghoulish figure was run inside a nearby cave and was now standing guard outside the entrance until the first woman returned with help. Several brave souls rushed to the cave, but no trace of the creature could be found.

Except for an overpowering stench of decay that caused those with weak stomachs to wretch on the spot.

The young woman who had stood watch was quite shaken and said that several times the thing inside had spoken to her and threatened to eat her.

As darkness closed around them, all concerned thought it better to discuss the day's events inside the comforts and security of the Lady's Rest.

More strange disturbances in the Outskirts, this time witnessed by members of the Garda: persistent mist...rotting odors...malevolent messages...and even a dead, disfigured body.

More noteworthy than that, however, a member of the royal bloodline rode astride a magnificent steed into the area, perhaps to reassure those out and about that their ever-present protectors protected them still.

Whilst in the Outskirts, the Royal Personage flirted casually with a full-figured Elven woman--who fairly swooned from his attention--but his benevolent mingling with the common folk was disrupted by a rude Outlander. Only by the unsurpassed grace and mercy of the Zaroviches was further bloodshed avoided, but wags wonder how long such Outlander provocations will be tolerated.

   word begins to circulate with the locals about the Garda going through great lengths to ensure the cities protection. Putting themselves in great danger despite the terrifying things that have been happening in the outskirts of late

  Terror ripped through the streets last night, as multiple creatures stalked the outskirts, preying on those out at night. It was the bravery of a gathered mob that finally drove the monsters away as dawn broke.

[A gruesome sight greets those who arrive here, come dawn (and even a few before dawn). A man's skull lies in the road, scraped clean of all flesh, the bone scraped in places as though by a sharp object.

The skull stares eyeless at those who come upon it.]

In a night of terror not long after the death of the dreaded Bandit King, a werebear tore into the Outskirts in bestial fury, taking several lives and escaping with multiple bodies.  Where they were taken, who can say.

Rumours start to spread of some dwarves and elves going to train together later in the evening. It is said that the training will not only be some single sparring. What type of training will it be?!

A savage brawl broke out in the graveyard, late in the night. The female vampire that hunts the night once again squared off with the Light Carrier that claims to protect the Outskirts. The duel seemed to last for hours until the Light Carrier disappeared suddenly.

  A glowing wolf attacked the outskirts last night. Even seasoned warriors and mages could barely scratch it. It eventually fled after a large group entered the outskirts.

From both sides of the Luna River, this night under the full moon was filled with howls, screaming, and yelling.  Some might have seen the 'speaking' werewolf chasing down his quarry, relentlessly pursuing and savaging those who stood up to him and the werewolves who struck. However, eventually, the howls and sounds of battle ended. leaving an eerie silence before morning came. As daybreak arrived, travelers would see blood all over the road leading north toward the western bank of Lake Zarovich with rumor of wolves, werewolves, and adventurers alike being strewn across in what was perhaps some chaotic skirmish in the night.

Early in the morning, a group of guards hang two dead gnomes outside of Vallaki. They are filled with arrows and left in cages by the Western gates to rot.

An hour before, some report having seen two gnomes with bright red cloaks being chased, exclaiming "We innocents!"

Early in the night, a badly injured woman was seen dragging a coffin along from the sewers, claiming it to be the vampire known as "The Lord of Lies", Elana, apparently slew the vampire, nearly dieing herself in the process. A group gathered outside the temple of the morning lord and watched the coffin burn to ashes.

   And so, in the early morning, word began to reach the Outskirts of the demise of the Lord of Lies. The details about what happened down in that stink filled cellar of the abandoned home in the city is unknown. One thing that is sure, is that the influence of the terrible vampire will be felt long after his destruction.

During the early hours of the morning, there was quite a large man, a caliban some say, was beaten harshly by the roadside. What the punishment was for varies from account to account, some say it was for crimes he did not commit whilst others say it was for disobedience. Some rumours even tell of an oath or curse spoken by the flogged figure during his ordeal.

At some point during the day, bystanders would have noticed a merchant with a feather hat having a shouting match with a Caliban runt before throwing a clumsy sword swing at the creature.
Embarrassingly, the merchant had the wind knocked out of him by a couple of well-placed punches.
Word has it that he whimpered like a girl!
He managed a keen slash of his own, staggering the runt. It was to no avail, for the wicked little beast fled back whence it came after abandoning its swag in the grass.

Just as evening fell today three deformed nerui wolves were seen attacking the night watch guard as he came on duty. The man blew his horn and a moment later a Sunkisser in armor came up and after many tripping attempts slew the beasts only with the use of a silver steel spear and her own marital strength saving the guards life. In stuttering answer to the question of her name she proclaimed simply and humbly Lauel Martovich light carrier of the Dawn

From the sounds of things a wedding seems to be being put together amidst the Romulich Orchards, a ways north of the sanctuary.

A rather public fight between two men would break out in the outskirts, a knightly looking man in a white cloak confronted a man in rather fashionable attire, making threats before attacking the man in fashionable attire who made a attempt to flee the violence. Failing to do so when he was chased down and cut down.

A halfling woman pleaded for the headless remains of a corpse the fashionably dressed man had been carrying. Once received she was seen dragging it into the graveyard where a decently sized fire was started. left burning as the woman departs the graveyard free of the corpse, those who might later on investigate find partial bone fragments and a rather sizable amount of ash. The fire its self would of been left in the care of a Moringlord who had been lingering about the area and had witnessed the entire scene unfold.

Word continues to spread about the brazen attack within the outskirts in broad daylight. A man clad in plate and white cloth spoke of faith and oaths. He accused another of witchery and practice of dark arts. The accused, A man with red hair and clad in black plate, refused the accusations. He stated to be on duty from the guard.

The oathbound mans offer for a duel was refused. The refusal was ignored as he chased and struck down the accused.

As if not enough blood had been shed already that day, a bull-headed human girl brazenly challenged the slayer clad in white for the body of his foe, but was turned down. Uninhibited, she gave chase and attacked, but was cut down with ease. Not slain, she was last seen during the aftermath near death, still hobbling after the man.
