Title: resting, bleeding and temporary hitpoints
Post by: A humble sage on June 06, 2020, 07:36:14 PM
I've recently encountered an interesting interaction with the bleed out mechanics and resting.

I had extra hitpoints due to a constitution buff, and rested, since my character was near death. Due to my low hp the removal of that constitution buff dropped me into bleeding out, but the hit points I gained from resting put me back into the positives (about 30ish hp). At this point my character was still lying on the ground as though bleeding out, but without any of the associated blindness or death checks that come with it, this went on for a few in game hours (certainly long enough that I would have had the [get back on your feet] . A re-log placed my character into the standing idle animation, but still unable to perform any actions, (moving, picking up items, changing equipment, emotes, etc.) attempting to rest gives me the message "You cannot rest while under the influence of this effect." At the same time, the @Letgo command is unable to kill my character off, so I'm currently unable to directly do anything about my character's state.

There weren't any DMs online that I could tell, but I did use the @debug command and I can send some screenshots if that'd be helpful, (sadly I tried relogging before I thought to take screenshots, so I don't have the one from the resting interaction itself.)

I suspect what's happened is that my character is stuck as "bleeding out" but because their HP rose above zero before any death saves or status effects really got applied there was no subsequent check to remove the effects again.

This is a known issue. If you can't get a DM, someone beating you down to neg HP again via subdual does fix it. Just don't use an energy weapon, as that bypasses subdual damage.
