Title: Topic for minor issues v2
Post by: qwertyuioppp on October 02, 2016, 10:35:28 PM
Old thread was too large.

Sometimes, we miss out on some of the very basic minor bugs and misconfigurations in the heat of topics turning into principal, more long-winded discussions. As much as the latter is still relevant, I think we would still benefit from making it a bit more effective and separating the two.

This topic is intended to make aware all the minor issues that's very forward to evaluate what's wrong and just a matter of getting around fixing it - like an item missing from a crafting store, a placeable placed wrong etc. Compiling it here should reduce the possibility of it . As the things are fixed, the posts will be removed from the topic.

Feel free to post anything that might already have been reported before in other topics but never got around to be fixed. No matter how minor, it usually takes very little time fixing these things, especially if we are already working with the area involved. Insignificant as it may seem, the little quirks tend to spoil the natural immersion into the game experience.

Thanks for helping :)

I admit that it's my fault, but I had no idea it might happen. My equipment was completely full, I tried to give someone items via barter but hit the cancel button instead and two containers - ivory chest and magic pouch, full of dark shadow residues - fell to the ground and were unable to pick up anymore.

Have been having a strange issue with the caravan master in the mist camp. When the problem first happened I crashed and when I came back I could not speak to the caravan master. Now I can but when others talk to him I don't see any dialogue.

This is in my character Azcath

This might be because you have a weapon out? He won't even talk if you have a mage staff or a quarterstaff out.

I know I didn't have my staff out so it wasn't that. There was another player in the camp that oocly was trying to help me out with it. Though I can talk to the captain now I am unsure if I can still see the text of others talking to him atm. Makes it very strange when u just see ppl walk over near the captain and board with no dialogue.

I remember it used to show the conversation to everyone who was around. I think both options have benefits, but I agree it makes more sense to see the dialogue

Sullen woods east use to have a lot of drops in the form of bodies and skeletons, only the crypt seems to be left.

Sometimes the corpses will spawn, but it's not meant to be as abundant as it has been.. Apparently.. Not sure if the post about it got deleted or not

This happens to everyone.

Yep. The Shadow Caves previously had 9 drops including the chest, but now you're lucky to get one (even on max spawn).

Speaking of those shadow caves, this script seems to be bugging out when the zone is active?
The server has just been reset recently, but whenever someone is in the zone, this pops up over and over until the zone deactivates. Happening at the same time as this post, hit @debug.

You need to use the feat pick target, then click on the target you want to examine.

Special abilities --> your class (wizard for example) --> Pick target

The floor of a few part of the lower Scrag cave is totally black, seems like the tiles are just missing, you can just walk true it.

If a character dies, respawns, and does not rest between then and a reset, the save locations anchor to the Near Ethereal, resulting in the character being alive in the Near Ethereal (no other portals available). If they respawn again, they lose XP again.

Fun fact, at least when this happened to me. I choose the option that normally places your ghostly self on top of your body, and it did that, and I wasn't ghostly.

The Ezrite Toret at Raduta sells her goods (Identical selection of stock to the Sentire of Vallaki) even to the non-faithful aka not labeled faction friends, including the magical scrolls that are pretty much meant for Anchorites. Even with her being a Pure Heart ,I'm not thoroughly sure this was an intended change, so I'll just bring it up here.

I was trying to brew a Heal potion, and after the first attempt, the crafting process (EDIT: for this particular potion - others still work) no longer worked and the console threw an error at me. Tried a new mortar and pestle item. No love. This was in the Sisters of Compassion Hospice.

I experienced a few glitches myself yesterday with crafting, npcs not spawning properly, and saw one player being ported to the wrong area after I just used that same transition without issues. I thought it was just the server having been up for a long time, can you try again after a reset and see if the problem persists?

Transition into the Shadow Caves (Barovia - Balinok Mountains - Deep Under the Mountain) simply is not working.

EDIT: Weird... a relog fixed it. Until that, I couldn't use any transition.

Silver Wind Fire Wheel: This weapon has the special property of Armor Bonus vs Shapechanger +1 AC instead of an attack bonus, as the description seems to indicate.

Edited to add:

Also noticed something about Copper Throwing Axes. A stack of 50 weighs absolutely nothing. Weight: 0.0. Might be an oversight? I know we made most throwing axes weigh about 1/10th of what they used to so folks would use them. These things went a bit over board. Though I do remember some Akiri throwing axes that weren't lowered in weight yet as of a couple weeks ago. A stack was 250 pounds or so.

I believe that is a problem with the engine as the same thing happens with a lot of similar spells, such as Delayed Blast Fireball or Storm of Vengance.

I've only really realize it with ball lightning, but ill teat delayed fireball when i log in later. For storm of vengeance, i got caught in the spell this week, and i thought it took into account the +8, since my saves were so high. Would need to test it again though.

I believe it might just be spellcraft that doesn't work for Storm of Vengance, but I haven't tasted it in detail because my experiences with SoV so far have been rather hectic. I can confirm that both PFS and Spellcraft doesn't work for Delayed Fireball however.

The last line of the herb Giogrio's Omen reads 'for it's supposed ability to protect against the Necromancy'. The 'the' is redundant. 'protect against Necromancy' works  just fine.

The poison Whisper Spider Poison doesn't follow the naming convention for poisons. It should be 'Poison, Whisper Spider Poison' instead.

So, a bug I described in Discord a week ago reared its ugly head again today.

Here is a breakdown of what happens:
My inventory vanishes. It is different to lag in that I am experiencing no stalling when entering dialogue into the chat box, and my inventory is immediately responsive when I use the radial to un-equip an item. I am confident of this because I play PotM on a ridiculously high ping and can compare this to the usual (horrendous) lag I get.
My carried:carry limit is still there and correct., and when I do un-equip an item, it jumps to the tab where it would have been placed, but nothing appears. At all.
Examining items comes up with a blank box, except for this:

Lol, what. Note that I haven't timed out, either, since I can still enter dialogue and have it pop up for others.

Then, the game freaks out and crashes shortly thereafter. Is this client-side, or a server problem?

I don't know how easy it would be to fix, but Asian-style instruments seem to have incorrect animations on them - held down at the side, like a weapon, rather than held up to play them, like other musical instruments. In particular:

Erhu  (and Erhu bow)

Dizi

(possibly come others)

Since my only active PC at the moment is an 'RP only' bard from medieval China, it would be a real boon to have these functioning properly.  Thanks!  :)

Edit: also Masquerade mask seems to have the same problem, though I remember it functioning fine (i.e. being held up properly) some time ago.

I am (pretty sure) I saw the dagger named 'The Dark Emissary' in an NPC's shop with updated (functional) Wounding properties (DC-14).
However, those possessed by several of my characters still have the broken ones that list Wounding as a property, but with no DC, rendering them useless for that purpose.
Do I need to get them manually swapped out?

Should it be changed though? How about considering merchants being wary to obtain it due to the thing's sinister nature?

We'll need you to be more precise, identifying in which zones it happens, and to pinpoint the location of the resources on the mini-maps. No need to spam it here, you can send it to me by PM.

Yes, the dagger's properties were adjusted and you can ask for a DM to replace the incorrect ones. A similar fix is coming soon for the "Bachelor's Leather" armor, where it will have the intended +2 AC vs shapechangers, instead of +2 AB vs them. Of late, Honed Razoraxes were also corrected, a +1 AB added to the properties.

The spell Delusions of Grandeur (Bard/Wiz-Sorc 2) is an Enchantment spell, but is listed on the PotM Wiki as Illusion. Both cannot be right.

The spell Wrack may have some problems. Wiz's/Sorcs can use scrolls of Wrack, but it cannot be added to a Wizards Spellbook as it is not an arcane spell?
Title: Re: Topic for minor issues v2

The wiki is not maintained by the PotM staff. It is a collective effort by the community. Some unintended errors may creep in sometimes. Feel free to correct the wiki.

We'll have a look at the wrack scroll and adjust if need be. It's not always a mistake though. Some scrolls can be used by all classes.

Before you make a change to the wiki, this may warrant a bit more investigation. According to the 3.5 spell compendium  (pg 63) delusions of grandeur is an illusion spell. Is it possible the spell description doesn't match the spell?

Edit: I double checked it on the dev forums, it should be illusion.

There is an abandoned inn with a usable bucket right inside the door. Using it turns on a light effect. A lit bucket. The area is Barovia - Old Svalich Road - Old Inn - Inside.
Upstairs, in the middle room is an armoire that is 90% sunken into the floor.
Also, the doors upstairs like to close themselves and lock? Might've just been a DM with that bit though.

I would also be extremely grateful if the animations for the Asian musical instruments are fixed, to be held like other musical instruments, and not as 'weapons' at the toon's side.

It would also be nice if, once fixed, some of these models were made into names items with + to perform, though perhaps this one should go to the 'item request' thread. :)

Also when you rent a Guest suite, it says the cost will be 500, but charge 1500

Are you sure? Here's the text you should receive when trying to rent a guest suite (not a Traveller's suite):

Quote
Bien sûr. I normally have four guest suites available. They are quite comfortable and perfect for longer stays in our magnificient city. The cost of this luxurious suite is of fifteen hundred solars per week. If you want, I can find you an available room or you may tell me which one you would prefer and I will see if it is available. Alors, what will it be <Sir/Madam>?

There is an abandoned inn with a usable bucket right inside the door. Using it turns on a light effect. A lit bucket. The area is Barovia - Old Svalich Road - Old Inn - Inside.
Upstairs, in the middle room is an armoire that is 90% sunken into the floor.
Also, the doors upstairs like to close themselves and lock? Might've just been a DM with that bit though.

I'll fix the armoire and the bucket. As for the doors, I don't know what may be causing it. There's no reason it would happen there without a DM present but I may have missed something.

Edit: Found the problem with the doors and will fix.

Yeah, I'm sure, I've been renting the rooms for a while, and that,s why I was surprise when the text was saying 500 solars, and was charged 1500. Wanted to point it out as it seems to be like that since we cannot renew the room until the rent is over.

Very minor not even an issue really.

The AI on Adeline the pup in the Kinship Lodge is sweet. She acts so much like she expects you to pet her and she keeps Iridni company when no one else is about.

When she bumps you though and she bumps you a lot because she wants attention, you start moon-walking. You have to click on your PC to stop.

it's funny when you're by yourself but when two or more PCs are talking it can be disruptive. I'm chatting a reply and look up to see Iridni heading off for parts unknown.

She also opens doors unless you lock them but that's because she's so smart!

A few very minor issues:

1 Possible faction bug: Last night in the Tser Pool, there was a crab attacking all the birds. The birds couldn't seem to hit it at all, so rather than let the server run this pointless fight till every bird was dead, I killed the crab.

2 Store bug: The other day Crawler in The Drain was selling an infinite number of bundles of 20 arrows for 0 gold. If you wanted to spend eternity doing tedious things for little gain, you could spend time buying 5 sets of arrows for 0 gold, then selling back a set of 99 for 1 gold.  Obviously no one's going to do this, but it seems out of character for Crawler to be giving away free anything.

3 Grammatical error: In The Drain, the last part of the dialog for the door is "the door is slam shut". Should be "the door is slammed shut"

This has appeared in my inventory the last couple of times I've logged in:

Based on what it shows, I think it's a physical object representing KM's character background (chosen at new character creation). I don't know how the corruption occurred so that it's showing up as a creature hide or it might be fixed.

ETA: The little 1-square widget of player data still is in his inventory as it should be.

The Heavy Crossbow Dawn's Ray of Cleansing has this description:

Quote
Inscribed the long of its shaft with incantations of cleansing and warding, this magnificent crossbow can only be wielded by those of noble intent.

It's +2 versus Undead and does require Good Alignment to use.

But!!

It gives the Bonus Feat Dodge. Hunh?

I think the text is supposed to be "Inscribed the length" or "Inscribed along" and "shaft" should probably be "barrel" or "stock," but those are very minor. The flavor text gives no explanation for the odd grant of the  Dodge feat.

When I just now logged in, my last location was wrong. It should have been the Terg Ruins because I'm certain that's where I logged out from because it was very late, and we had finished everything, and I needed to go to bed.

I understand that once you log in a script can trigger that moves you to your safe location if you wind up in an unsafe place. But the Terg Ruins was not one of my choices on the Pool.

No biggy, but it made me think that perhaps there'd been a server rollback?

Two other very minor things:

* The server seems to call itself "Prisoner" rather than "Prisoners" of the Mist. That's what I see when logging in.

* The last few times I've interacted with Petre and clicked "Leave" it stays in a loop and offers the same choice again. I have to walk far enough away or hit escape to end the conversation. Used to clicking "Leave" ended it? I was turning in worg furs when this happened so maybe it depends on which branch of the conversation you were in before.

Something that has bothered me for a long time is that when you go to this address...

nwnravenloft.com

...the forum doesn't load correctly. If you click on any (internal) links at the top, your browser loads a blank frame.

Since I figured out what was causing it, avoiding it is easy: I go to www.nwnravenloft.com instead. If you don't know what's causing it, though, it makes you think the forum is down or having issues. Moreover, the Bing search engine tends to send you to nwnravenloft.com. (Go to bing.com, type in "prisoners mist," and the first hit is nwnravenloft.com.)

Assuming the site admins have access to the Web server's configuration file, here's an easy fix so that nwnravenloft.com should work by redirecting the browser to www.nwnravenloft.com  (in Apache...I have never messed with IIS, although I assume you'd do something through a GUI that accomplished the same thing).

<VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName nwnravenloft.com
    Redirect permanent / http://www.nwnravenloft.com/
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *:80>
    ServerName www.nwnravenloft.com

Has happened a few times, all of the docks rat spawns stay pretty late, then the guard goes nuts and subdues them- and stands on top of them until they come up and hit them back down- all of those rats are subdued.

Steel plated trollskin boots are supposed to give +3 fort total (+2 from troll and +1 universal). Equipped, they provide only +2. Is there a fix for that?

The +2 fort should give you +2 to fortitude, and the +1 universal will give you a +1 to reflex/will. The two bonuses don't stack to make it +3. I hope that helps.  :)

I don't see any sensible reason for these not to stack. There are other items that give universal saves, which work with each other perfectly.

If they are separate items it will stack just fine, but those two bonuses together on the same item will not stack as I described a post up.

It is just as a +1 sword, +2 vs undead. is also only +2 vs undead not + 3. General plusses and specific ones on one item do not stack.

Also to add to this it's not as if I'm ignoring that I'm thirsty. Even at night when the sun is down I get the messages. As soon as I get the first message I'm thirsty I drink water and I have to drink anywhere from 8 to 10 bottles to be sated. Fearghas is a very thirsty domn.

Seems like something is buggy with your character, not necessarily the system itself since it works fine for others. Best post in the Generic DM Thread to ask a DM to fix your character.

Not sure if this has been reported, bumping if so. The scripts for several 'waiter' NPCs seem to be a bit finnicky. Specifically in the Tigan's Rest and La Croissant Bleu, wherein in the former they open the exit and the door to the backroom, and in the latter they open the western private room, even if it is locked. I assume this happens because the doors are in the way of their patrol routes, so could those be fixed? I'll be posting the names of the specific NPCs when I get around to them IG.

Tigan's Rest: Barovian Bar Maid
Croissant Bleu: Suzie Villamont

In the Vallaki warehouse in the warehouse district the back room with the book cases and writting desk has three candles which are part of the tileset, they have the animation active, but they don't have a light source. This means that at night the area is black but the candles are still animated, you can see this lack of light when you equip a light source of your own.

Will fix.

There was very odd thing with Greater Sanctuary spell.
I was not able repeat this bug but I will left about it here.

For some reasons when I hostiled few characters and tried walk near in GS spell - they was able to see me.
Even more, attacking under GS spell not breaking GS effect and other characters was not able to target my own character.
But picking up item was breaking spell.

I thought what it may be somehow connected with timestop spell since now caster visible under this spell.
After casting timestop spell and then casting Greater Sanctuary(in timestop) it seems all returns to normal.

I tried to relog in game and repeat Greater Sanctuary spell again and it worked well.
I asked another wizard to cast GS spell and it was also all working well.

Not sure what triggered and broke my Greater Sanctuary spell. But something did so.

Mining supplies are supposed to be 3 packages, not 2. Was your inventory full when you accepted the quest? Did you start moving away from him before the last item was given to you? You received exactly 2/3 of the promised amount since you turned in exactly 2/3 of what the delivery is supposed to be.

Hey, noticed one of my items that got accepted into the server, the Blackmoon Hide, doesn't have the description I wrote! It's just the default one.

Description should read as follows -

Spoiler: show
Item Name: Blackmoon Hide
Item Type: Armor (hide armor)

Description:  Dreaded tales tell of a great wolf that once terrorized the region of Verbrek known as the Mourning Ridge, a jagged spine of wooded hills that dominate the area near the source of the Ulvflod River and hug the edge of the southern border with Sithicus.

The massive wolf, black as pitch and larger than a drafthorse prowled along the scattered hamlets that clung to the edge of the Ulvflod, causing havoc and death in its wake each autumn. Verbrekers in the region long dreaded the coming of the beastly creature, which they called "The Harvester", as it came nearly to the day at the time of their meager end of the year harvests.

A group of Outlander adventurers passing through the region heard of the local plight, and swore that they would take it upon themselves to rid the area of the great wolf. A long hunt ensued, lasting over many weeks. Each time the adventurers thought they were closing on the wolf, it managed to evading them, blending into the dark woods with an uncanny ease.

After much strife, the adventurers eventually came across the den of the beast, and slew it in a hard-fought battle amongst the ancient and fog-strewn pines. A ranger amongst the group, skilled in the ways of leatherworking, noted the properties of the hide of the monstrous creature, and skinned it then and there.

Unfortunately, when the adventurers returned to the hamlet from which they heard of the Harvester, they found it utterly destroyed... a pack of lycanthropes evidently had ravaged it, slaughtering the inhabitants to the last woman and child. Revenge, perhaps, for the killing of the great Harvester wolf.

Sets of darkly toned armor such as these are said to be from the hide of The Harvester, and indeed, their coloring is as black as pitch and extremely difficult to see in dark lighting. Very supple, they are quite effective at stalking through the woods, letting one slip quietly over branches or rocks.

A lot of emotes are causing my character to do a bow. [grins] for example and several other things I did last night caused her to do this. At one point last night it seemed anything in [ ] caused this response. This was most noticeable in the Mist Camp but not exclusive to it.

There are still some bugs in the criminal delivery system.

The giver at Krofburg lists a 400 and 1000 option for silver, but choosing the high option results in suspicious meat, instead. A lot of crates of suspicious meat have been piling up in that area...

I also found today two crates of Mercantile Goods for Hoth, Bartender at the Drain. There was no option for Hoth to take them, nor did the Drain delivery-giver take them when  I provided all that surplus meat!

Petre had Oil of Sharpness for sale for 1473 gold.

The description of it was single use Keen Edge, but its cost was many times what an enchanted whetstone is worth, even though an enchanted whetstone has multiple uses.

It said "Keen Edge (17)"--which might have something to do with the excessive value.

My PC has an appraise of 25 and drew a favorable reaction.

Again this bug happened with me as my character casted extended GS spell - character was still visible for hostile players and spell was not breaking after attacking character or bashing something.
And again after casting timestop spell - this bug is fixed and not repeats.
I may suspect what extended GS after server reset my cause such bug. I will try recreate it after next reset.

I didn't say anything, but the text in the text box appeared both in my text box and over my sprite's head (not positive about the second since it's not in the screen capture, but I think it did).

As you can tell, I'd just passed through the Mists and was under Greater Sanctuary. I knelt to pick an herb, and the text spontaneously appeared afterward. One player suggested it might be an accidental voice emote, but when I clicked on my tiny portrait, it showed my identity, whereas voice emotes don't do that. Plus, the text is written like a Barovian speaking.

Could have been that a DM was messing with me, which is fine, but it seemed more like a very weird bug because I don't know why a DM would do that, and no flavor text appeared to indicate a DM was around.

This might not match what happen to you entirely but I have experienced something lose to that. I had been beating on a pratice dummy when a player messaged me it show I had attacked them in their combat log. No damaged had actually been dealt or attacks hit despite it saying the contrary in the log, Sometime under periods of lag or packet loss I have attacks go to character or NPCs I'm no where near. Perhaps this might be the same thing but for voice emotes?

Sounds like a reasonable explanation (though I think someone typed it, rather than emoted it, because of the lowercase "i" at the beginning).

Derkot has also reported some weird bugs lately with GS, which is another reason I posted it.

DM Brimstone helped me change my cleric of Majere's domains to Good / Law today, upon doing so and discussing what these changes to my domains meant ability wise, we noticed that Fear is listed as a Cleric [1] spell as well as a Cleric Law [1] Spell. It does not appear to be quick-castable like the healing domain system (sacrifice an equal level spell to cast an unprepared heal). Is this intentional or is this an oversight? Thought it would be worth bringing up

Furthermore: Upon changing from Healing domain I retained the ability to caste cure serious wounds at a lower level without having that domain. A DM saw me do this, and I said I would report it and remove it from my quickcast bar

It is intentional, but its implementation within nwn is somewhat strange - under usual rules a cleric has a domain spell slot on each spell level (so 9 in total if he gets that high), in which he has to prepare one of his two domain spells of that level. These might be duplicates, they might be spells a cleric normally doesn't get access to, that doesn't matter. These domain slots can also not be converted into healing spells. This, translated to our systems, results in you being able to prepare your domain spells as much as you want, but you cannot convert them even if they're usually cleric spells, or atleast that's how I remember it.

That makes sense. Because clerics on POTM lose the domain slot, domain spells for spells the cleric already has (and at the same level) are useless.

And while I am here... the "Domains and Other Worlds" book in the OOC library lists removed skills in the "Native Characters" sections (bluff, craft weapon and so on). Wouldn't it be more appropriate to adjust the descriptions to the server to avoid confusion to new players?

This oversight will be corrected shortly.

1. When you receive the quest in the Drain for the basement at the inn in the Wachter Estate, it is designated as Grubby Missives for the Gentleman. If you try to give it to the Gentleman, however, there is no option to do so. He also says he may have work for you in the future, but not now. Who you really need to give it to is one of the three Shady Looking Men, who will also offer a return quest for the Drain.

2. The return quest is the Slaving Accounts, but it has "Unrecognized Token" in the text.

Tonight the cauldron in the Herczog Apothecary was working inconsistently. About every third time it would just act as though it was going to do something, with the crafting initiating message, then leave Suspiria in the crafting emote until I gave up and activated it again.

This has happened rarely before, but not so repeatedly.

I would say it was due to the lag.
During crafting when the lag is huge your character gets stuck in action performance. This is not restricted only to brewing, can happen while smithing, woodworking or other crafts.

Welp, but overall I didn't notice a lot of lag. However, I tried to rest on two different occasions later and it behaved similarly. I rested, and then I just stayed resting until I cancelled out of it. This was a problem because Suspiria almost died because of not being able to rest and regain her spells while passing through some areas that would have been easily manageable if she could have :)

Not sure if this is the right topic, but I don't think it's worth a topic of its own.

Many view endurance potions as largely worthless because the potion's wearing off can be so catastrophic. I thought they would at least be worthwhile in removing exhaustion, but it turns out that they're not too good at that either. When you drink one, your new Con isn't checked until the next tick of the exhaustion clock, so they don't have any immediate effect, despite the name.

Which is counter-intuitive.

But it also made me think that they might be worth something if they removed all exhaustion effects at the same time they buffed Con.

Removing all exhaustion effects is maybe kinda strong, but removing some exhaustion effects sounds like a good idea (even if it's as little as 4 exhaustion). I agree that this would make them more valuable.

Could we have a barrel or other trash container in the WK Lodge?

It comes up every now and then needing to dispose of something in the Lodge--most often returned keys and amulets but occasionally something like the Harbinger's shield. I lock them away and wait for server reset, but it would be nice if they could be disposed of more quickly without having to bug a DM.

If there is one and I just keep overlooking it, sorry!

We had some problems with one of the chest in the last room in Perfidus, I'm not sure it's a bug. It's a pretty nasty high level trap, and it could just have a very very high search on it. but might be nice to check out.

There are four chests in the last room and the one most to the right when you face them seems to be bugged, I could see the traps on the other chests just fine but that one didn't light up. I though it didn't have a trap and opened it, it sprung (killing my pc), after that I opened it again after a minutes or so in search mode and it did nothing. After that we talked for a bit about loot we found and I was standing pretty close to it, someone opened it to check inside and it went off again.

If an unidentified container type (in this case, magic bags) are placed on the Vallaki raunie's table, you cannot pick them up from the 'table' slot once they're identified. They get stuck on her bench (as in, the items are on top of it). Due to the angle, they cannot be picked up again. I was able to retrieve one with great difficulty, but the other was a lost cause.

Iridni put on the ring "Keepers Guide" (think that's what it's called) to supplement her Search skill. She had Detect Mode activated when she put on the ring, which was slowing her movement. When she tried to deactivate Detect Mode, she received the message "You may not disable this mode. Characters with Keen Senses always receive the benefits of active search mode." So the ring, which should have been allowing passive Detect, locked her into slow-movement Detect.

Fixing it required removing the ring, deactivating Detect Mode, and then equipping the ring. Not a big deal, but it kept her locked in slow movement, which can be deadly when suddenly needing to flee.

This was attempted with an adamantine crossbow and a platinum ingot.

I tried this a few more times. Keepers Guide always issues the message that Detect Mode is activated and running is disabled whenever it is equipped. So the nature of the bug is twofold:

1. If you equip it while in Detect Mode, you will be unable to run unless you unequip the ring first because it won't let you deactivate Detect Mode.

2. If you equip it while not in Detect Mode, you will erroneously receive the message that running has been disabled.

The crossbow gilding issue is being investigated and will be corrected as soon as possible.
Title: Re: Topic for minor issues v2
Post by: MAB77 on April 06, 2018, 11:52:28 AM
There is no other solution to the Keeper's Guide ring issue but to equip it when the Detect Mode is off. By virtue of having the Keen Sense feature the system wil always tell you can't deactivate the Detect mode. Furthermore the detect mode is hard coded, so this is not going to change. Fortunately the work around is easy.

I will investigate that error about the message saying it is disabling run. But so long as it is just the message and not actually disabling run at least it still works as intended.

This one is minor. It seems that occasionally, when you have a dominated animal or your animal companion, you start exhibiting the behavior of the animal. For instance, I dominated a deer, then I started wandering automatic similar to what the deer does naturally. My character paced about automatically. It happened again with my animal companion. I haven't tested this further as it's not really an issue as it only affects rp.

The following spell's duration has been changed:

-Shelgarn's Persistent Blade: Changed from one Hour + 1 Turn/2 Levels to 1 Turn + 1 Round/Level to be consistent with the other summons. The 24 hour total duration also applies.

I don't think that 1 turn is factoring in. I experimented with a new mage last night and I was getting one attack and it vanished. It was so useless I stopped using it after the 2nd try.

I think maybe it is set at 1 round +1/level

Had 2 instances in the last two days of my character Monique's stealth being ignored. Once by an npc vampire and another time by a worg. Neither made a roll and neither had a realistic chance of seeing or hearing my character.

Also, had an item disappear from my inventory with no sign of it in the log. Stalker shortbow. Obviously it's an important piece.

During NCW in EE-

The @walk command works, but goes wonky with an elf at random locations. So far it has happened at the vistani fire, and in the morninglord church. What happens is the PC switches from normal non encumbered walk animation to heavily encumbered slow walk.

The Journal entries are out of sorts. the main type @read whatever is missing, several of the entries are up (never typed @read anything) and the one for e-mote is up but has bad streff listed in its heading.

Animals (a big stupid grizzly bear in particular )that are empathy-ed to a druid have a hard time following the simple commands. follow- they just stand there for a long time. then follow. Guard me, they walk away from the PC. They also keep switching to the walk/ detect mode rather than match the PC. Animal companions seem to be behaving normal.

Found a bug where an ox I was taking back to Vallaki from the Fishing Lodge kept having the oxen transition back to the Northwest Zarovich shore every time I transitioned. It eventually made it so I could not get the items transported back.

Eventually I just gave up trying. My guess is there is a script on the oxen that might be broken for on transition, but I am not sure.

I will note the oxen was found near the fishing lodge when I got it.

I can drag Healing Circle III to a quick slot without praying for it (i.e., "spontaneous cast" healing).

It doesn't work for Healing Circle IV.

This may be how it's supposed to work, but I can't figure out why that would be the case.

According to this: https://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Spontaneous_cast you can't spontaneously cast healing spells on levels where you have a bonus domain spell.

An unidentifiable corpse finds its way into the walls of the Sanctuary of Blessed Succor, laid on the upon the floor infront of Father Miklos. It's origin and identity a mystery to many - The Church invites any that may have information on the deceased and the circumstances involved to please come forth and share what they know.

ping me here or on discord, or send a tell to Anghel Vantu in game.

HM01 and I were talking about this in Discord, and apparently no DM knows anything about how this corpse came to be there? It's not a standard corpse in that it acts as though it can be raised, but it's not a PC. When you use it on the priest, you are informed of that, but its description says the corpse *can* be raised for the proper amount of gold.

Just to throw a possible explanation out there until a better comes along:

My PC was badly impaired and then her party tried to use a Lesser Orb of the Mists on her, which naturally didn't work. Her corpse was brought to the VoB temple and raised. Thereafter I logged out for the night.

When I next logged in, that corpse was in front of the priest.

My PC functions fine, but I'm wondering if something in that sequence might have caused the corpse artifact to appear.

I looked into this and it is a far more mundane explanation than anything above.  It is a corpse item, unaffiliated with a player and accessible by the DMs through the item palette.

When the background selection in the New Character Area is cancelled due to a crash upon entering the server (or accidentally), there's no way to bring it back up again.
I remember DM Tarokka and I were struggling with this a while.

Hi, I was doing some inventory management when the server crashed. I lost quite a few items that my buddy had given me, and they're not in his inventory. However, I specifically -saved- my character before I started sorting things into boxes. However, when the server came back up, all of the items he had given me were gone, including the boxes I had bought and labelled to start sorting. Some of the items in question were valuable, and we need them back.

I was hoping my saved character could be used to overwrite the character currently in the vault.

My character: Verent Ogders (bestbardna)
My buddy's character: Perin Hille (Thaylorn)

We unfortunately do not do those kinds of things as there are no way to know what someone could have done to their saved character and the high risk of cheating involve into this. To save your character you should use the save option specially made to save your character on the server and not on your localvault.

If you have a screen shot of the item you lost a DM can give them back to you, if not, you can always make a request in the Generic Request thread, though item are usually not given back without a proof you truly had them.

It's very likely you lost your items for good if you don't have a screenshot, it's something that happens to everyone at some point, we then learn to save the character (on the server) every once in a while or after trading items, etc. There is unfortunately nothing else that can be done.

Recently I've hostiled other PCs twice. I didn't notice the countdown when I did so, alerting me to enough time had passed so it was okay to attack them.

Seeing as how I'm not the most experienced PvPer this could be me, but if it's a bug, I thought I'd call attention to it.

It depends on how you hostile them. If you hostile via the player list that yellow text saying "10 seconds have passed..." will not display. If you hostile them via the tool in your radial menu it should give you the message.

Also, that 10 second thing isn't a rule but a suggested amount of time.

Krofburg Minor Seam respawn

Over the life of today and some yesterday this has been an ongoing issue. Seems the seams dont respawn as often as they should or at least the particular one I am dealing with. Half hour will pass or more. Still wont show up. No one on the map. And it has been played with to check it. Giving longer and longer times to respawn in without success up to and including 1 hour real time. Eventually gave it 3 hrs and it spawned in. As I understand it should be much less than that

During NCW in EE-

The @walk command works, but goes wonky with an elf at random locations. So far it has happened at the vistani fire, and in the morninglord church. What happens is the PC switches from normal non encumbered walk animation to heavily encumbered slow walk.

I think I found a fix for the @walk command. It will properly set the PC to actual walk mode. This should be implemented in the next update.

Barovian Wardens.

The Barovian Wardens in the Shores of Lake Zarovitch says...

"Enjoy your stay, but leave the animals alone"

This seems out of character, a Barovia Warden is a tough outdoorsman who has to patrol to keep the area safe from poachers, bandits, and Were creatures appearing just as the sun sets, although they don't patrol at night I think their is some legitimate danger for them from this. Saying "Enjoy your stay" makes me feel they are park rangers in a holiday destination. A small conversation telling players not to dare poach or cause trouble seems like a more natural thing for them to say.

I often find that my sneak attacks aren't triggering properly, even when all conditions are met.

My character is within the correct distance.
I have tried dis-engaging and re-engaging the opponent.
At no point did the sneak-vulnerable opponent switch its focus to my character.
I was not able to land a sneak attack on any opponent for the remainder of combat (not only that flurry).

Here's the example. I got a sneak. The character moved to another location for better targeting. Suddenly, no sneaks.

I have noticed this is happening very often against many different types of opponents.

EDIT: Just to clarify, the first attack in a round is not always a sneak. Sometimes they don't fire off, period, even when my character is not and has never been the target for the opponent, and the monster is engaged in combat with another character.

In the Wayfarer Kinship, there's always been a problem with either people forgetting to lock the door behind them, or its otherwise mysteriously being unlocked. Members have always been told to be careful about locking every door--even the internal ones, which are all lockable.

Could it be changed so that those doors lock automatically as well?

I've noticed that the door to the Broken Bell Theatre locks automatically when it is shut.

I do not think faction door should lock themselves automatically when closed for the simple reason that I believe it can be abused. Someone could very well use that as a way to survive in a PvP fight. Also, remembering to lock the door is part of the game, if your character forgets to lock it, then it expose the place to potential threat or other things that could potentially happen, which is part of the game imo. I personally believe doors that lock automatically on close should only exist in special circumstances.

Locking the door behind you is an habit to take, just ask anyone who is playing or played a guard in the past. IC punishment can happen if a guard forget to lock a door behind them. Locking doors is something that can and should be handled IC'ly, not automatically, in my opinion.

That said, if you'd like to talk about this more, I suggest you make a thread about it in the appropriate section of the forum as this thread is for reporting bug, and from what I understand, what you describe isn't a bug, unless the door to the Broken Bell Theater shouldn't be locking itself on closing.

I don't think it's anything that warrants a "long-winded discussion":

Sometimes, we miss out on some of the very basic minor bugs and misconfigurations in the heat of topics turning into principal, more long-winded discussions. As much as the latter is still relevant, I think we would still benefit from making it a bit more effective and separating the two.

And I don't disagree with any of the points you make (which is why I've never complained about how the Lodge doors work). Perhaps the issue is, then, that the Bell's door should not lock automatically?

The tailor's in Vallaki has no crafting station, and her shop doesn't have an unlimited supply of tailoring items. They're set to be only one item, so when you buy it, that's the only copy you can get. It also lacks the clothing blueprint item to produce an outfit.

EDIT: Also there's a NWN 2 building prop in the unused portion of the shop, just behind the merchant.

I've tried juggling a couple of graphics settings around, but can't seen to get these to return to the original color. I've also had three other people inspect them and they're seeing the pink-ish color as well. Not a big deal - but wanted to report back on it!

I noticed today that my character was getting struck unusually often by enemies.
Upon reviewing the combat logs, I noticed that foes were able to hit my character when their roll's total was far below my character's AC (24 vs. 30). They weren't rolling 20, and I wasn't flat-footed. Maybe I'm missing something, but wut?

We're missing a few bits of info for that bug.

What creatures were you fighting? Do you have Blind-Fight? Uncanny Dodge? Had you been subjected to Darkness & Ultravision recently? Had you been webbed or entangled recently?

If creatures are being treated as unseen, and you don't have blind-fight / uncanny dodge, the bonus they get to hit & the automatically-treated conditions of flat-footed can help them hit you a lot more often.

This can be caused by the darkness/uv bug when darkness is cast on a player and then ultravision is cast on the player while within darkness. When ultravision fades, all other creatures become treated as unseen.

The entanglement bug is when your dexterity having been reduced to 3 while entangled, affected your AC & wasn't correctly updated back to the value it shouldve been when the entanglement wore off.

Alternatively, if the creatures you were fighting are known to use stealth, and you only are detecting them via Listen, then their first attack can be treated as an attack from an unseen opponent.

Being treated as flat-footed when an unseen creature attacks can let them hit you for values below your character sheet AC, and entanglement bug reduces what your AC should be, in short.

None of the above were applicable; I'm aware of all of these mechanics and bugs (and blind-fight is basically a requisite!).
The opponents were just ordinary werewolves, and earlier, ordinary crag-cats. I know these opponents do enter stealth if fleeing (or in detection range with LoS broken), but that was not the case.

An open road in Hazlan east of the fields of labour seems to be locked toward a dungeon/dangerous area zone, don't know if this is intentional or not. Staying in this open area prevents plants from respawning from the tusk forest nearby if they were picked, and upon logging out for overly long, logging back in sends one back to the Vistani caravans. When passing through the detention area (not inside the cells themselves) in the Citadel Jails, I found my guard PC would randomly be flagged as 'jailed'. His clothing would then be stripped from him (not his helmet or cloak, weirdly).
On server resets, I would often find my garda flagged as jailed after having worked in the jail area, and thus, only one entry point would be available.

Very strange. Do you still have your tenement key? Normally it doesn't create a key, it renames an existing one. Is it possible Iridni rented a room at the Governor's Hotel a long time ago and you forgot you had a key on you?

When using the @voice command as an MPC, one word doesn't seem to come through correctly, ever, and that's "willowy". I tried it multiple times over several rests and relogs now, and I have no idea why this happens.

The "willo" bit of it gets erased. Why?

It's likely a bug in interpreting the '@voice will # text' command.

Apparently Agnes of the Fanes has an identity crisis, her overhead name says Agnes, her description says Annis

Actually this is correct.  Agnes is her name.  Annis is her type of Hag.

The herballist of the two Herczvog sisters reacted to my casting, calling it "Foul magic!"--and I gained a point of OCR. I think I've cast in front of her before without reaction...and generally herbalists don't react. I assume this is because the stuff brewed in their cauldrons creates "foul magic."

Didn't know if this was a bug, change, or bad memory.

Are you wearing your guard uniform when that happens?

Yes.

I'm not sure if this is intended, but the hag in the Fane still drops greater sanctuary scrolls.

Thanks; no need to delete the post since it drops in the loot tables so can't be abused, short of being very lucky. I'll pull it in my next update.

I'll fix this; they shouldn't react like that.
