Title: multi users at same IP
Post by: Tycat on January 27, 2014, 03:06:33 PM
ok so, got a new computer, and I gave my old one to my cousin so she can play again. NWN diamond is pretty weird. it demands a fresh install to change the cd keys. In the past, I let her log in on my keys and system to play if she wanted to. We've got a second set of keys, but my question is, is it alright to give her my old keys and accept the new ones, to save how much installing/reinstallinng we have to do to get up to speed? or is this a gray area rule break somehow? we'll be gaming from the same network, and got ports set up without issue, its just the cd key sharing I am curious about.

Either way, if I must re-install to give her the fresh keys, I will.

U 100% sure you need to reinstall?

I'm almost certain I've switched CD-Keys before by modifying a .ini file.

Yeah that's what I thought too. but then a message pops up and says "Invalid CD Key Authentication" and it reverts the first key to the original installed. The last two keys however, stay changed to the new keys. This is feasible for us to do, too.

while i dont think its against the rules, ty, i can't find anything either. but a fresh install woudlnt hurt anybody, especially after changing hands.

can we get an official ruling before we start playing together though? does anyone else swap users on different systems at their house, but not change the cd key between usernames?

I don't see how it'd be a problem, provided you're not holding the same items, as I believe, with that, the muling script works by CD key.
