So this is getting irritating, as it happens quite often to me at least. I have encounter points in my rp where suddenly there is no more text. The talk channel no longer is showing what people are saying, and sometimes not even tells are showing up.
I have relogged, restarted, rebooted, re-installed, and so far nothing is consistently fixing the bug. Normally one relog will take care of it, sometimes i have to completely reboot. Tonight i logged 3 times and power cycled my computer, and still I could only see tells and dots .... over people's heads when they were telling me they were having actual conversations.
Ideas?

Happened to me once. Relogging fixed it as you said.
Do you still see NPC conversations in the window? Check your chat panel and see what it accepts. I'd be guessing but it might be a network issue.
-
I didn't try the NPC's. Next time this happens I will do that. It was particularly bad tonight. I tried to see if a reset would fix it (since I couldn't tell if it was my end or server end) but I was unable to get one initiated.

It sounds like a latency/lag issue. I get that occasionally.
-
Try using " ping -n 100 84.238.20.74 " in command prompt, only time I've had that particular issue with when I'm getting alot of packet loss, not really with latency.
The IP address if I'm not mistaken is PoTM's IP.
Also does anybody else's computer on your home network receive the same issue.
-
Yeah, you're right. I was confusing packet loss with latency.

Only working computer is mine. I do know, however, that this is a "bug" that is not exclusive to me. Other players I've played with have told me it happens to them too some times, and I remember it was happening to a handful of us all at the same time once.

As Squeak said, it's probably packet loss, and packet loss happens to everyone now and then.
Try this to see if it is packet loss: http://www.dslreports.com/faq/1063

Yup, I think NWN only uses UDP, so if any packet loss exists strange, terrible things will happen. I think most games use TCP for things like chat and UDP for everything else.

This seems to do the trick. Thanks guys.
