[Murmured and hushed whispers among the dirtier, grittier denizens of Port-a-Lucine speak about something new, a new potential business partner. They seem to use the title the "Shadow Company" and with each telling it alternates between a mercenary guild and something more sinister perhaps even a murder-for-hire guild. The truth is shrouding in more than a bit of unspoken mystery. What is evident is that profitable employment is to be had if one is willing to speak with some of their members, which some even say are as black as night in skin colour. Some say the Black Market is where they are seen most.]
-
A simple piece of paper is tacked to the wall:
"Eris, if you yet live, come home."
-
[An auburn haired man dressed in simple black and red wool robes, who introcudes himself as Elric, is seen asking about a boy carrying an urgent message.]
-
[The shadowy figure who refers to himself as Frère Ombre spends much of his time dwelling in the market, healing and offering training to those who need it, as well as quietly but eagerly preaching his gospel to any who will listen. He leaves flyers posted about the market, advertising himself, his church, and his services.]
L'Eglise de l'Ombre
On behalf of the Lord of Shadows, I extend my aid and services to the downtrodden and the forgotten -- for the Shadows never forget, and will always take them in. I shall make myself available in the Market. My services include but are not limited to:
Healing of wounds
Curing of diseases
Resurrection of the recently deceased
Spells of deception
Training and education in the ways of Masque, the Lord of Shadows

[Frère Ombre returns to the black market and more flyers are put up in the sewers beneath the Ouvrier. He maintains his post in the market, preaching, treating wounds and giving lessons on pickpocketing and misdirection.]

A woman in black pulls off a flyer and looking it over carefully before placing it back where it is from so it may hang again, departing quietly only to stop briefly and hand out some gold to a couple of beggers claiming she will be back again
-
[An armoured caliban carrying a halberd makes his way through the black market, stopping to peruse phillip's offerings and enjoy a bottle of wine. When questioned he makes it know that he is looking for the one who calls himself Frère Ombre, he otherwise keeps to himself.]
-
[A large man in a blue cloak and dark armour has been seen amongst the black market patrons on a regular occurrence, and he has been alleged to have established good rapport with most of the merchants]
-
[Another series of flyers begin to circulate through the Black Market.]

The bowels and lower districts of Port-a-Lucine are a host to a myriad of slithering shadows, skulking and observing, knives in the dark. One such shadow traces its steps from one point of interest to another, quickly and silently, asking after a woman - one of Richemuloise descent, one of striking features emboldened by the raven dark of her hair and the emeralds set in her eye sockets. Why such a woman would associate herself with the Underworld of the City of Lights is beyond those who receive the shadow's audience, or in the instance they refuse to answer, the end of its blade.
-
The Underworld of the City of Lights jolts and shudders with quick bursts of disturbances, pain, and death. A patrol of loyal men disappearing in the sewer, a caliban left without legs, vagrants beaten to a bloody pulp - small, seemingly unrelated happenings that leave some awestruck, and wondering.
-
These compact fliers, written in both Mordentish and Common, circulate in the Underworld of Port-à-Lucine...
Have an issue?
A neighbor decided to bed your wife? A competitor getting ahead in business? Just want someone gone?
Leave a missive in the Black Market for La Chasseuse, for arrangements.
Some of the posters seem to be amended and replaced in time, though the content remains the same.

The posters begin disappearing from the city's underworld. One might wonder what happened to the individual advertizing their services - but after all, such is the danger of their trade, that any moment may be the last.
-
A strange, androgynous figure appeared dressed in flowing, decorative dark robes within the Black Market. It leaned on a blackened magical staff and began rambling in the upper dialects of Mordentish about "Her promises of wealth", drawing some sneers and some looks of interest. The cultist, or preacher, spoke with two of the local shady men at length, before finally drifting out.
-
A short man of wiry build and dark clothing who refers to himself as Le Chercheur has been seeking 'hired help' for a lucrative opportunity for those who are daring. He has been seen speaking to Philip the Fence and Bigo Gearling, seemingly chummy with both.
-
The preacher is once again seen in the bowels of the City of Lights, calling out for all who would listen in attempts to recruit the brawny and cunning for a purpose of gainful employment. Its blackened staff, emanating swirling lights, never seems to be far from reach.
-
These posters begin appearing in the Black Market. They seem to be, ironically, in the styles of the Gendarmerie boards.
⚜ MANDAT DE MORT ⚜
The man going by the alias of RENÉ "STRAIGHT JACKET" is hereby wanted DEAD for abhorrent crimes against HUMANITY, the GODS, and ALL that is DECENT, going against the HONOR amongst thieves. Heretofore, he is also BANISHED from the PARADISE of riches and sin, a shadow in HER step no more.
The man wears a dark garb with a white undershirt, most often with a hood. He sports a collection of rapiers and a Rokuman shortblade.
PROOF of his DEMISE will be rewarded with 50,000 DEMENTLIEUSE SOLARS.
Send word to the Doublure d'Argent for the Servant of MASQUE, as those who bore witness to these crimes did before you.

Note: Killing is not condoned within the sanctuary of our Black Market - hunt him down as soon as he emerges from our grimey grates.
-
Every poster, if not the majority of them has been renewed. The line concerning the reward, more precisely the sum of the reward itself has been crossed out, and next to it replaced with a new sum.

Notably Bigo Gearling has been absent from his store for the past few days with speculation regarding his recent disappearance running wild. Black Market activity has come to a new time high as crates are moved by armed men in and out of the place within sight of Philip the Fence. The smuggler and information broker Le Chercheur "The Finder" remains ever present, seemingly moving new goods about and speaking to those seeking odd-jobs. One of the chief lieutenants of the La Rue Bas gang was seen speaking to "The Fence" later this evening...
-
An animated conversation took place nearby the market stands. The bickering involved a man matching the description of 'Renè Straight Jacket' and an androgynous masked feminine figure dressed in decorative dark robes. The woman kept her composure, while the man seemed more eager to intimidation, accusing her to be part of the faction involved in the distribution of the recent bounty involving his person. The confrontation didn't escalate to a fight, however the man known as 'Straight Jacket' made clear that should the woman's goons ever attempt to meddle in his affairs or renew the posters once again, there will be heavy consequences.

Small papers are being distributed down from theif to thief, pickpocket to pickpocket. Waifs speed and distribute through the tunnels, past several known gang turfs. The notices are never posted on the surface, but dispersed around the poorer districts.

These notices begin disappearing from circulation...

Abruptly after two months of handing out jobs, heists, and being known as an information broker, and notorious smuggler the individual known as Le Chercheur or 'The Finder' has suddenly stopped appearing in the Black Market for reasons the denizens of the Black Market either don't know or won't share.
-
An unassuming man in dark coat and hood has been seen moving about the Black Market from time to time. He can be seen watching many of the goings on, taking a meal, and conducting minor business, purchasing various odds and ends from the people hawking wares. After he turns the corner out back into the sewers onlookers would be hard pressed to find sound or sight giving away his passing.
-
[What ever lingered here, no longer does.]
-
[A woman in dark garb left an add on the column near the Hawker. Walking around, she stayed for awhile, inquiring about scholars delving into the occult and those familiar with Darkon, before finally leaving.]
-
[A couple notices are posted around Port-a-Lucine's Blackmarket]

Seeking employment! Experienced mercenary looking for work. Skills are as follows: Good with a blade, good with a gun, good with traps, locks, and trained alchemist. Experienced in my line of work, please leave word for 'Worgbeard' if you are interested.

A familiar sight in the drain has arrived within the black market recently, A blue haired moon elven woman in a well made suit. She is seen speaking with a few of the merchants before leaving a few fliers about.

A dark-haired woman subtly spreads word that she is looking for a painter for some unique commissions. Details as to what, exactly, she wants painted are scarce, but she seems to be offering generous pay for both discretion, and the work. Interested parties are told to leave their name with Gros Louis.

A new set of bounties appears on the Black Market's noticeboard, a testament to one mad terrorist's war against the establishment...
-
Almost as quickly as it appeared, the notice is removed.
Seeking an expert infernalist, specifically on the subject of fiendish curses.
Payment will be handsome.
You can reach me by leaving a note in the last room in the back of the Broken Spire Inn behind the nightstand.

In the middle of the night, a small team of caliban are seen unloading a shipment from the docks. Clinking bottles and herbaceous aromas fill the black market before being tucked away in storage. The product within these crates remains anyone's guess.

[Two notices are wedged in the doorframe of the underworld rentals in the Thieves' Highway while a third is posted in the Black Market]
I seek either of the current lease holders of the rooms in the Thieves' Highway in the Ouvrier to discuss the possibilities of relinquishing said lease for compensation, favors and/or fleshly persuasions.
Leave correspondence at the Black Market bar addressed to "Madame Orbb" so we might arrange a meeting.
