Title: Crossover 12.5
Post by: emptyanima on August 19, 2013, 05:37:39 AM
Just a heads up if anyone else is playing NWN via Crossover - NWN runs in 12.5, but very, very slowly. I would not recommend updating from 12.2.2, which is far more stable and runs NWN as though it is being played natively, despite not being seen as such a solid build.

I downgraded via the downloads page on the website, in case anyone has already downloaded the update.

Hope this helpful to some of you!

Out of curiousity, what operating system are you running? I'm assuming you're a OSX user, though I could be wrong.

I played around with Crossover on several Linux distributions, hence my curiousity.

You would be correct in your assumption, yes. I had look at the forums for the Linux version and my head nearly exploded :P

I use OSX because I have been used to it most of my life, so I am much more savvy with it.

Unfortunately this does mean a lot of game devs overlook me, but with Crossover it's less of a problem :)

I was asking because, for any potential Linux users on the forums, it might not be wise for them to use the newer version, as the program differs in functionality between the two platforms, so while the OSX release of CrossOver might run NWN faster, the Linux release might not. Just trying to clarify things for other users.

Ah, I see what you were striking at now.

According to the Codeweavers the best Linux version to run NWN is 10.1.1, for anyone using Linux.

I've never had any issues running Neverwinter Nights natively on Linux.

The toolset, though, is glitchy and unstable, no matter what I've tried to emulate it through.

Heh, I gave up on running it natively, after a good bit ofvtrial and error failed me. Admittedly, this was several years and several PCs ago.
