Rumor spreads the the border outpost on the edge of the Wachter lands suffered a dire werewolf attack. Many tracks indicate there was a whole pack of large wolves that broke through the gate.
Many of the guards were slain, and torn apart. The innkeeper might mention two hunters who where staying in the inn that evening singing and feasting, witnessed the event and went after the beasts to track them down at the first rays of the dawn.
-
Rumor about a craftsman called Costa Vadim helping the Iliescu brothers around the smithy in the Zeklos outpost, Wachter Provance. He and a young barovian girl, domna Lupei, have been seen on many occassion delivering and distributing tools and crates among the farms on the Wachter Province and along the Svalich road.
-
The Zeklos outpost on the border of the Wachter province seems to have a developing traffic of barovians as of late. Dialogues about the flooding near Krezk, some came to work in the mines, Constantin Vadim is seen often talking about trade and harvest with the locals. Hunters passing by, miners, woodworkers. Many stops to spend a few hours there before going on their daily work. Rumor is that Costa Vadim is still looking for willing workers who can help him in his developing trade. Cargo loaders, miners, smithes all are welcome.
-
Word of inner tensions, dismissals and discipline reigns among the Wachter House Guard. It is rumored that the House will be seeking new blood to replace those whom have been considered unsuited to uphold the high standards and tradition of excellence of the Wachter Family. The word is spread by a trader here, a merchant there, shared within and out of the serfdom that possible career opportunities might soon be opening up in Boyardom.
Other rumors speak that Lord Ivan Wachter has taken another, much younger woman, word speak of a Bastard child...
-
The Wandering Knight known as Sir Solomon, knight of the sun has been taking regular lodgings at the local tavern in the Wachter Province. He keeps to himself buried in a book writing vigorously. He has been seen going to and from Von Zeklos Keep,

Soldiers have increased movement and patrols. Activity on the road and leading into the Wachter Compound has increased ten-fold. Wagons filled with supplies and rations move pass the gate day and night. The serfs and peasants can only wonder what is happening. The soldiers remain under orders not to speak outside of there own ranks.
-
At the peak of the mercantile season, Traders & fishermen from Krezk and Wachter province came marching to the Wachter estate angry of the current turmoil in Vallaki that affects business. Ivan Wachter listened to their plea.

Smoke rises into the morning skies over the eastern regions of the Wachter Province, as several piles of corpses are burned by a robed, hooded man in black. The corpses range between monster, wolf, and man, all tossed together into mass burns. The stench of charred hair and flesh permeates the air, as the Fourth Sect continues to mercilessly slaughter those foolish enough to cause strife in the lands across the Luna River.
-
Carrion birds are seen circling in great numbers near the Luna River. Any who investigate find the Wachter camp slaughtered with the corpses mutilated. On close inspection one might find several broken Vallaki Garda weapons or pieces of armor amongst the carnage.

Rumor quickly spreads of a vicious werewolf attack in the night on the Outpost leading to Krezk. All the guards manning the post are said to be dead. Locals talk of Ezrites being in the area, and the beheaded corpse of a giant neuri being left behind by them.
-
Another border skirmish broke out at the Lunar Bridge. No one knows who started it but the end result is the same. More barovian blood split.
-
Rumors of job opportunities at the Wachter estate begin to spread.
Ivan Wachter has apparently hired someone to manage the affairs of his house while he consolidates his grip on the former von Zeklos lands.
An official statement may soon follow...
-
[A quiet has fallen west of the Luna, where once the wolves there would howl, often times answered by powerful, roar-like sounds of unspeakable beasts...
now all that is heard is the occasional sad yowl. Along with this - near the Border Outpost Krezk, were found the charred remains of some 10 men and women,
sprinkled in the area a ring of wolf's bane, and a small wooden placard thereupon written vārcolaci - "werewolves"... who has been doing this, it is not yet clear,
though, there have been rumored sightings in the wee hours of men hoisting the flaming banner of Raduta, far beyond their actual holdings...]
-
An unknown woman was found dead at the hands of Neuri and awaits burial in the wachter cemetry.
-
A rugged man took up residence at the outpost. Working day and night as if there was no tomorrow. He is felling the trees like a rabid otter, mauling the rock in the mines, the smithy is loud from the bangs of hammer, the strikes filtering outside filling the night with echoes, wailing of metal.
Aside a couple crates and tools, he seems to be mostly crafting weapons en masse.
-
During last trial, it was observed that a certain "Ceryn of the Grey Wolf tribe" had admitted to the crime of murdering 20 Wachter guardsmen laid upon the two Ezrites, Zivon and Leonar. He went peacefully below, to the dungeons.
-
Another dark night, another young woman found dead, throat torn out by neuri.
She bears a striking resemblance to the younger Domna von Radovich, Elena.
-
Recent conversations say that the guardsman Gavril Valentin has on his hours off been asking about the recent deaths and urging residents of the village to stay indoors after dark, particularly those who fit the pattern of the previous killings.
-
Rumors of a massive wolf lurking in the woods at night near the estate begin to spread.
-
[Wachter's Estate sits glowering down at the serfdom from atop a hill, at the bottom of that hill there is a platform where The Lord's decrees are given and his Justice served. Recently Many of the Wachter Militia have been repairing the platform's supports, nailing down loose boards and sweeping snow and ice from it in preparation for something]

With the executioner's block satisfied with the blood of an Ezrite,
those who pass it in the following days feel an unnatural chill a fivesome more deadly than the winter wind.
-
Following the latesth battle on the bridge, a fresh slaughter took place behind the battle lines as a human male mercenary and a caliban monster together raided and pillaged their way through the Zeklos outpost and Wachter farmlands. killing a dozen Wachter guardsmen.
They were eventually delivered, dead, to Lord Wachter's estate; the name of Zorasteria Venerdyn, an outlander warrior, is whispered as the one who brought them to account...
-
An outlander paid a visit to the Province, entering its gates in the middle of the night. Under the watchful eyes of the local guards, he has been seen going into the smithy in where he spent a significant amount of time.
-
Some may have noticed that Tatyana, the local beauty turned squire to Sir Tarlin of the Lily Knights, led some retainers to the bridge and conducted a meeting with a representative of Lord Wachter. It is said Sir Tarlin was sent for and long talks were held in a tent before a tour of the lands began.
-
[Word spreads of several odd occurrences having took place during the most recent market day held at the base of the hill in the shadow of the Wachter Estate. Oleg Wachter, the son of Lord Ivan Wachter, apparently decided to put on a rather disturbing puppet show, before being dragged back to the estate by the Olzanik girl rumored to be Ivan's current mistress. Lord Ivan Wachter himself left the estate with a small retinue of guards, chewing out the current Chamberlain of the estate in Balok.]
-
After her chewing out the Chamberlain reportedly fled back to the estate, apparently abandoning the market in which she usually plays an important role.
-
The whole of the province celebrates the fiftieth birthday of its benevolent Lord and Protector Ivan Wachter. A successful season and a bountiful harvest ensures that many families within the province will be well prepared for the coming winter. The end of harvest season festival is marked with feasting, folktale story telling and traditional Barovian dancing and music. It is often heard that "Life is blessed west of the Luna Bridge".
-
In the hours before dawn a blood-splattered Outlander emerges from a rumored to be cursed section of the forest heading to the Estate as dawn rises. She pays handsomely for a courier to deliver a sealed letter addressed to Gavril Valentin before returning into the evil woodland region and vanishing from Wachter land.
Spoiler: GAVRIL VALENTIN show

[left]The weapons have been bestowed upon them in mass quantities, qualities, and diversity. Two insurances are arranged to take any blame from investigations, one of which I can execute if need be to silence the trail forever. They have been inspired and are distributing the food and weapons within their slums to form a rebel militia. No evidence yet hints to outside influence. Vallaki is trying to recruit more but is thus far ignoring the growing faceless rebels in their midst. Such a glorious slaughter is brewing and I wonder which side will triumph.

[Hand written copies hung in the Province, Nailed to the gates of the outposts]
"To whom it may concern,
I Bianca Cardei, as a previous woman of the law, as an ex-corporal of the Vallaki Garda and ex-recruit after that do condemn Vallaki's Garda for the following reasons:
The first reason I have left the Vallaki Garda is due to their consorting with witches. This is the most important of the Vallaki Garda Rules, we do not promote or consort with magic doers. And by consorting, I mean sleeping in the same bed with them, associating with them and making dark deals with them. Pacts. I first witnessed this from Private Bogdan Antonescu. I also have seen this behavior from Private Allexandru Dimitri. He goes out at night, near the well speaking to a known witch I call the 'Red Witch'. When I reported these actions to Lance Corporal Florica Sima, she seemed to either not believe me or not to care. I also reported them to Lance Corporal Vincent Zolokorov and he as well said he was going to report it up our chain of command but didn't. Furthermore, the same Red Witch gave me a parchment to deliver to Bogdan. I was curious as to why a 'witch' was giving me something to give to Bogdan. So I looked inside and there in blue ink was writing that spoke of deep thoughts to Bogdan. Telling him to come to the Port of Lucine 'once again'...and to meet her there and discuss things. I reported my suspicions to Lance Corporal Zolokorov and we commenced a full body search of Private Antonescu. He had many many letters on them. Some with the same blue ink and others with a very different hand writing. Most of it looked suspicious and there was one or two that gave specific names such as 'Milicent'. An outlaw. I told Vincent this and then Florica Sima came into the jails where Bogdan was being held and she demanded what was going on with her Private. I explained to her that he was deep in with the witches. And she seemed to ignore me and tell me to go. She gave him all his effects back and released him halting the investigation. Since I have been back, Private Antonescu has left the garda into merely a shadow of its former self. One of our rules is that we do not use explosives, but Private Antonescu is training his underlings to use Black Powder, illegally. And worse actions still I know Private Toma has been seduced by a vrolok, and Lance Corporal Vincent Zolokoro, has told me himself that he is in service with the Ulcisor vroloks.

[Rumors begin spreading throughout the province that there is to be a grand tournament at the Wachter estate in the coming days. A call for merchants has been put out and great numbers are expected.]
-
The Gundarakite groundskeeper as of late can be found sitting in solitude in the woods off the Svalich Road, often in a meditative state someplace secluded.
-
The severed head of what was once a barovian man is pinned to the Outpost Gates with nothing more than a small blade shaped in the form of a feather through an empty eye socket. Written in blood across the gate reads: Parliament Arrives. Prepare for Judgement Witch Keepers.

Spoken amongst Gundarakites of the Wachter Province tell that a fellow of their kin is organizing an effort to repair the road to the south of Barovia of rubble, to reopen trade with the region. Men parted with family in Zeidenburg and Teufeldorf are urged to assist in the effort.
The organizing work party, however small or large it might be, is said to gather on Thursday, December 4th.
Workers are asked only to bring tools they have permits for.
(( This is a Gundarakite-centric roleplay event. There may or may not be many at all present, but if you play a Gundarakite, you may wish to be present. You might even learn a bit about the sons of Gundar. Don't expect to make any true progress, this is simply a flavor event.
Event is set for Thursday, December 4th at 7pm EST. Time is subject to change.))

Talk amongst the lower enlisted at the Luna bridge garrison and Zeklos outpost indicates that some recruit has deserted. Some say it was cowardice, some say it was for a woman, but everyone agrees: what an iadul idiot.

[A note has been left next to the wanted posters near the estate, reading;]
"Please don't fight against Vallaki. There has to be another way. We're very worried there."

By the orders of Lord Wachter, craftsmen from across the province gather at the Border Outpost, constructing great ladders and siege equipment with determination. Heading up the project is the Weiks, and the Gundarakite groundskeeper.
-
[For the past week trails of blood across the Luna bridge have been discovered by those passing through accompanied by the footsteps of people and another set belonging to what seems to be a large wolf of some kind. With the lack of protection of the Luna bridge, the sounds of howling and the sounds of screaming and snarling could be heard frequently outside of the orphanage and the nearby farmstead. Often in the early mornings, bodies would be discovered with another being found just this morning]

A house was burned in the farmlands near the Raduta Keep and a skirmish was had between Invidians and outlanders. Most of the Invidians were slain with one being captured and brought into Vallaki, declaring that Invidia would be victorious and 'liberate' Barovia from the Vistani and the Count. His ramblings were hushed as he was taken into the city proper. Strangely, however, the captain of this band managed to flee the scene and was unaccounted for.
-
Town ciriers announced the attack of Gundarakite rebels that took place late in the night on the wachter estate grounds. The estate walls where damaged with fire bombs while a local mill was partially burned from fiery debris. Garda sentries and patrols have been doubled with a promise of coin to any man or woman that brings knowledge leading to the attackers arrest...
-
Wachter guards and Berez militia have been cautious and pickier about who they let in their towns. Some have been denied access if they had come from Vallaki, causing some trouble and some disruption of trade on the roads. The Wachter guards have been vigilant to protect the lands from the invisible enemy known as disease. Word is out that Wachter guards had engaged in a brief skirmish with Gundarakite rebels who have returned. However, the guerrilla forces retreated into the woods quickly as they came.
-
Rumor spreads from the Wachter Estate that the Wachter Militia are seeking information and questioning local men and women in connection with two sets of burned human remains discovered, so the rumor goes, by the former soldier Yakov Calmasaru in his stable first thing on a recent morning.
-
Rumor spread throughout the Wachter Estate and the surrounding farms that and Ezrite Templar delivered a letter to the Manor House at the Wachter Estate. The Templar did not stay. He completed his task and was seen heading back toward the Redoubtable Chapel.
-
After a series of magical explosions, smoke billowed out from a recently burned down camp along the road to Raduta amidst the chaos of yelling. The sickly smell of death and acidic fumes loomed in the area...
-
A carriage led by a figure in Von Zarovich colors passes through the Old Svalich Road and causes some in Vallaki to hold their breath until it passes through the municipality. Instead the carriage continues westward and stops in front of the Wachter Estate. Whispers and gossip soon alight as to the word of what business the von Zarovich have in light of increased encroachment by the rebels who have taken residence in Berez and the seemingly eerie silence that followed their advance north towards Wachter and Ionelus lands. It is a clear omen and most certainly not a good one...
-
Sounds of clashing metal and bone was heard in the territory just shy of Raduta. With torch fire lighting the night, signs of small scale battles scar the area with both blood and broken skeletal bodies. As dawn began to approach, the commotion heightened before it finally broke off into chilled whispers. The remnants of the battle carried themselves to the Western Outskirts, where words such as "lich" and "necromancer" were thrown about in both fear and challenge.
-
A patrol of Wachter Guards, escorting a Black Carriage, set off from The Krezk Outpost as night fell, but their destination was never reached as small squad of Black Army Soliders poured in from the woods..
A single woman, adorned in a crimson breastplate bearing the seal of The Von Zarovich Family, emerged from the carriage, and the night exploded into chaos. All colors of magic light up the night, the boom of gunshot, the clash of steel, and the screaming of dying soldiers smashed the silence of the countryside.
Soon all that remained were two fighters: A single Black Army Officer, and The Woman in Crimson. Their duel lasted until the early hours of the morning when silence finally fell.
Only mist and pools of blood remained as the sun rose.

A mounted patrol circles around the Municipal borders of Vallaki, before settling briefly at the outskirts. A mounted messenger approaches the gathering and they set off toward the West, eventually reaching the Wachter Estate. After some bickering with the guards at the gate, they enter and stable their horses. Two guardsmen remain in the stables, whilst the other two head toward the Inn for some rest.
Despite their differences and the bad blood between them, the guards converse amicably with a group of fishermen. They bond over watery ales, stinking fish stew and over tales of the past. Eventually, the fishermen leave in the early morning with the exchange of a few waves, smiles and pleasantries - quiet bells denoting the departure of the vessels to search for an early catch.
-
In the morning a young attractive Barovian woman briefly enters the Wachter's courtyard with a large cask with a silver leaf imprinted upon the wood. She leaves with a large vulpine smile.
-
As the night churns on a rotten smell wafts down the wind toward the outskirts. A light from across the river pierces the night. Echoes of a feast, wet and savage. The whimpering of a man turning into the howl of a creature...
-
A number of bloodied bits of parchment begin to appear in various places, all reading the same thing:
My minions are mindless beasts that do as instructed out of fear. You do not want me to join the fight proper. This is your last opportunity before I begin taking lives. Volunteer a Corvaran Half-blood for a conversation, or suffer.
Beneath the wording are a number odd symbols, except for those who understand Vistani Tralaks.

[A weathered sign stands firmly in the wake of a dark eve, just past the crossroads. Despite signs of desecrated flora and undead nearby, the road is cleaned and the area routinely christened with holy water by a figure laden in red armor not dissimilar to that of the Cult of the Morninglord.]
Do not despair the darkness of the night. The dawn cometh! Rejoice and look to the morning light. You are not forsaken.
Hope and salvation shall come and evil will be defeated.
So sayeth Lathander, the Morninglord.

[The relative peacefulness of the early morning is shattered within the Krezk Outpost as a figure garbed in tattered clothing and the decaying trinkets and charms of a Vistana is seen approaching the gate from the west. An unnatural aura of malevolence seems to cling to him, amplified by a pair of feral, glowing red eyes. He is stopped by a man clad in the armor and symbols of Kelemvor and a fight ensues a short time later, the Kelemvorite falling in a pool of his own blood. Rather than strike a final blow, the undead creature continues through the outpost.
Unfortunately the Wachter Garda aren't shown the same mercy and the creature carves a bloody path through the small village. Half a dozen garda lay strewn about the grass, but the creature seems to have not stopped there. The nearby bridge favored by fishermen is painted red, with four more bodies left in careless heaps. A fifth floats in the water, his blood staining the surface.]

Word spreads of some fell presence harrying lone wanderers West of the River Luna, on the roads towards Berez and Zeklos Outpost. Hordes of shambling, marching, squirming undead gather in secluded places, as if uniting for some unknown purpose. In the Sullen Woods, the light seems paler, and the shadows deeper. And near Zeklos Outpost, a pair of herbalists find a still-warm body, features twisted into a gruesome mask of utmost terror.

Out in the Retezat woods, a commotion rockets through the early morning. Nearly a dozen brave men and women have converged on the old house hidden away there. This house has recently taken up new residence, and they sought to put it down.
After very nearly succeeding, their quarry seems to have escaped with it's unlife, with two of their comrades in tow.
-
The old house on the hill seems to have gone quiet... Could this be a sign or reprieve from it's recent inhabitant? Or has she simply moved on to greener pastures...
