Salutations all mist-dwellers!

By popular request, last year's "Play-A-New-Character-Week" returns!

This year's event will be running from December 16th to the 24th where only entirely new characters will be let into the core areas*. Join in on this unique occasion to experience loads of enthralling gothic horror roleplay in the perfect setup. With everyone being on the same perilous terms, the imposing dangers of the world becomes all the more terrifying! Find new friends as the forming of alliances becomes more essential to survival than ever.

Expect a number of DM events and special occurrences to appear in game during the week, but we also invite you to use our forums here for pre-planning things with other players.

Looking forward to seeing you all there,

~ The Server Staff

* (This implies all characters made within the event as well as characters who are made pre-event, but haven't yet entered the IC world. Core areas are all west of the Svalich Pass near Castle Ravenloft.)

Useful info, hints and tips for the event:

- For those new to the server looking for basic info about how to actually play, get all info here: http://www.nwnravenloft.com/forum/index.php?topic=862.0

- You can create your character pre-event and still use it for the event, as long as the character hasn't passed through the intro-cutscene. All other characters will however not be able to access the zone of the event for the duration of the week.

- If you've created a character before the event that you've scarcely used andl want to utilize it for the event, we recommend that you simple recreate that character.

- Remember that while finding people to revive a friend or the sufficient gold to have an NPC do it will be hard during the event, the XP loss of using the shaft of light in the Near Ethereal to restore you to life is very small at lower levels.

- For the duration of the event, Daniela's Weapon Shop in the market district has a few silver weapons in stock. They might be expensive, but can make all the difference when fighting creatures of the night.

- All old characters have their starting points relocated to points outside the zone of the event if logging in while it's running. If you would like to avoid this, simply refrain from logging on to that character during the event.

If you want to hook up with other players prior to the event and plan characters and plots, we've made a topic dedicated to it here: http://www.nwnravenloft.com/forum/index.php?topic=26417.0

The event has now begun, and we hope that as many as possible will decide to take part in it and contribute to it being a success.

Without question, braving the world with your life in hold during this week will be harder than usual, but keep in mind that you have the option to respawn if all else fails - the XP hit at low levels will be minimal.

On the other hand, we also encourage that you use this opportunity to form new alliances and friendships - for your survival and for the benefit of the roleplay and community too.

Also keep in mind that this server is about gothic horror roleplay. This week will hopefully bring it to you in abundance but also help us preserve that atmosphere in your roleplay and take part in building it. Don't just goof around, but show us your best.

Now, enough talk.... let the roleplay begin!
