Hello,
As I have recently gotten a new laptop as my old one is broken, I had to install NWN on it. However I can not seem to find the file with the cd key on them, and I have searched on the cd itself through the explore option. If someone can assist me that would be great.
sincerely,

nwncdkey.ini
or
nwn.ini
-
You won't find your CD keys on the disc itself, the discs are just cloned copies. You either need the nwncdkey.ini file from your old broken laptop (you could probably pull the hard drive out and put it in something like a USB 2.5" hdd enclosure? If you do this, make sure you get one with the right connector for your hard drive!) or your old manual with the keys in it (inside of the front page).
-
maybe it is my cd of nwn diamnod but I can't find that file; which is odd as I know that is how I got it on my old laptop. any ideas why I can't find it?
-
I think my Diamond CD had the keys inside the .pdf manual on the disc. I think.
-
Oh right, I forgot the laptop is properly broken.
Well, I'd suggest salvaging the harddisk if buying a new copy wasn't cheaper and easier to do.. :P
Yeah, might be in the pdf. For me, they were just printed in the cases under the CD.
-
hmm, no luck so far :( guess I might have to turn to gog to rebuy it. *sighs*
-
okay I bought it off of gog.com, now I have to wait for a cd key; anyone know how long it should take to receive it?
-
Less than a day from GOG. It's where I got it after I lost my original box and manual. Also, some people report some issues that involve you having to re-download something or download a fix to make some bugged textures/models go away for the GOG version. I didn't actually have to do that, so I don't know what it is, but keep in mind that you might run into that.
-
I have yet to recieve the files for the cd keys it seems :( *sighs* hopefully it comes soon.
-
I sent another request; hopefully it will arrive soon.
-
Still no Cd Key >.> but now another issue has poped up. I can not start NWN. I click play, the loading screen comes up but before the intro movies start it auto closes itself. Any ideas?
-
Try making a Direct Connect shortcut. Are you using Vista or Windows 7?
-
Windows 7, though I do not think I can do direct connect at least not yet; as I did not recieve my cd key in the mail yet
-
Thought so. Make sure the shortcut uses nwnmain.exe, and make sure it also is running as administrator.
-
thanks that works.
Now if only my cd key would get here. Though with the main server being down do we really need a unique cd key? I believe we do but not sure 100%
-
Considering that PotM needs a CD key to tie to your character via a password, I'd personally wait till you get a unique key.
-
still no luck on my cd key *sighs*
-
Try also the compatibility with XP service pack 2
-
yay I got my cd key. though this is embaressing, I forgot my password for edmond >.>
-
okay cd key issue resolved though another issue has popped up for me. that is that the textures are strange, ie trees have white splotches ontop of them. IN addition to that I seem to have a supper massive amount of lag when running the game.
-
Splotches? Wouldn't be snow, would it? Haha. Try turning down some of the graphics and disabling some of the graphic features.
-
did not work my graphics are still screwed up, white everywhere, not sure what the issue might be.
-
Can you post a pic of this 'whiteness'?
-

hopefully that can help others figure out this annoying issue; I am also not sure where the lag is coming from either.
-
As someone told me when I first downloaded from GoG, you'll probably have to download the Critical Rebuild patch. ...from where, however, I'm not too sure. Is it on the Vault?
-
Here (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=Other.Detail&id=1505)
-
That should solve my issue, right?

Worth a shot, as I've heard others with the GoG version having texture issues. However, what kind of video card do you have?
This thread (http://www.nwnravenloft.com/forum/index.php?topic=23683.0) seems to mention similar issues that you are having, with some possible fixes.
-
Radeon HD 6490M is the graphics card my notebook has.
-
tried a reinstall and nothing changed >.> did not think so; but clearly I used that patch so it is not that. might be my graphics card, anyone have any ideas?
-
Anyone have any ideas on what is causing the texture issue and the immense ammount of lag? and how I can fix it?
-
and fixed. I am an utter fool for not updating my drivers!

At least you weren't suffering the notorious candy stripe texture bug.
