Title: Dancing animation.
Post by: DM Tarokka on July 24, 2010, 03:28:42 AM
http://www.xfire.com/video/30abe5/

Found this while surfing Xfire videos and I thought some kind of animation like this, for certain circumstances, could be nice to have. Wondering if it is too much a bother to plan.

Nice! I've always felt dancing animations were sorely needed. I remember in one Ball in Port-a-Lucine where there was a dance, and either the characters have to stand still, or step to the sides. It looked awkward even if dancing was emoted.

There are also many other animations that would be neat to see added. Does it require a hak to get it done?

Don't think that's possible to add? Never seen any animations that uses 2 PC's. I think that animation consists of "1" object.

god would i have loved that durring my noble days with Vincent. RPing a dance just doesn't have the same effect when you see it!

Yeah, it might work with some quirky scripting though (each being moved to an exact position to then play the animation separately) but the hassle seems more than it's worth to me.

Yup, two-person emotes are definitely possible. I was griefing a social server the other day, and noticed that they had some very explicit emotes that forced two characters to perform a very 'cooperative' emote.

Naturally i spammed it on player corpses - but anyway, it is definitely possible with scripting.

Maybe a tweaked @follow script, keeping the following PC close

@dance (A player Dances with B player)

No Idea... I am not a scripter.

Don't those dancing animation scripts already exist somewhere and could be imported? I took a look at more of those recordings from the link above, and I saw some romance animations, might be good to have too. Anyway, the other character apparently used an item on the other character so they could do the emote. If the script were imported, and connected to an @dance emote like Joe mentioned, I can imagine it not being too much of a hassle, but I can never tell really not being a scripter either. -_-

Aside from that, a dancing emote that only works on one character would go a long way to enhance things, especially gypsy dancing for current ongoings. =)

That's totally going on my signature as a quote.

But, yeah, I'm sure the animation could be imported easily.  Like many other things we've asked for that wouldn't be hard-at-all to implement.

So I was thinking...you can see more co-operative emotes from Ciaran's link, like kissing closely. It would be very neat if something like that were tweaked for the classic vampire neckbite.

Nope no dancing, dancing leads to kissing, and kissing leads to bans for cyber! It must be true its what my parents told me!  ;)

It could lead to a bad romance!

Sorry!!  :offtopic:

Now back on topic...

The intimate animations hak packs are found here http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=hakpaks.Detail&id=7306 (http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=hakpaks.Detail&id=7306) and the download size for the core haks is only 2.64 MB. In the download theres some very clear instructions on how to get these in the module, the animations work on male to female pcs, or npc to npc or npc to pc, any combination, allthough I think its human only. The animations are using pc's/npc avatars there not replaced by a single placable on a loop.

This sounding better yet? Im really impressed by this! I really think this should go in because its an amazing origional concept and I think its safe to assume no other multiplayer module in the roleplay section is using these.

Lol

Quote
*** WARNING!! THIS HAK CONTAINS NUDITY AND SEXUALLY EXPLICIT CONTENT!! ***

Much of that couldn't be included cause of the intolerance for cybering I believe, 'but' including the lightweight stuff like kissing would be neat.

I think our scripting wizards could do something to either stop the sexual orientated contenat from working, or block out the way in which there activated, I mean its probably either a feat (because of the hak) or a conversation of some sort that starts it off. I want to dance! lol

Two-person dance emotes?  I'd be happy with a one-person dance emote or two.  Or do we already have those somewhere?

Same here, and no, there aren't any sort of dancing animations yet.

Oh my gosh. o_o That looks amazing!

Back on track, I would love for more custom emotes in general, as well as this one. I enjoy, most of all, [crosses arms], [holds ears], [crouches], etc. I love custom emotes, and please, please, please code this into Ravenloft. I will give you cookies.

I do wonder if this is possible of being added to the sever anytime soon, I think it would be cool plus be nice for when balls and other events like that are held. *nods*

I am curious how one might create a dancing animation in NWN, unless it is in the 'intimate' animations that was linked up above.

It could possible be done with a DanceLead and DanceFollow, 2 emotes that mirror each other. It would only take a bit of coordination on the player's part to start the emote at the same time, but would be easier on scripting because it doesnt involve 2 PCs in one emote, just 2 emotes which work independently but match up together.
Especially if a 3rd emote is added to 'get close' to set PC's at the right distance to eachother for the dance emote.
And 'get close' could be useful in many RP situations aside from dancing.

Dancing would open up possibilities for parties and social gatherings in forms of Masquerade balls... you know you want it...
and perhaps some traditional Barovian dances or something. Would be cool.

Personally, If I can do it on a dead player or with a dead player... or use it as a spell to force people to dance... that would be awesome.  :D

Søren, I am going to come to Denmark and force you to make this happen. Seriously, I know Blue and Søren have said it's a hassle and are probably not going to make this happen, but I'm encouraging them to reconsider - I will throw so many gala balls if this is put in. So many.

Umm Dancing isnt a gateway drug, and Romance DOES happen like it or not, and I doubt cybering would result from this, I think it provides more oppertunities for other players to interact and I wholly agree on Two player emotes.

I can see animation like this used in Port Lucine for like balls or something.

I doubt dancing will lead to cybering. Can lead to romance which does not always lead to sex. Holding hands, kissing, hugging, all these are emoted but doesn't mean its cybering. Besides there are lots of characters here that get pregnant. Romance happens, other things happen but it is under a black screen. It is never mentioned.  :censored: :whip: :bonk:

I agree with Eberron here, sorry if i offend anyone but... You're all acting like a bunch of Catholic school nuns. It's just upper Victorian styled dancing, when has -that- lead to any pillow talk besides the movies? Also not meaning to sound like a stick in them mud, but it's a lot more classy, refined, and respectable compared to the majority of dancing nowdays.

It would definitely up the immersion factor at those Port-a-Lucine balls.

Someone script up some burlesque, pole dancing, and dub-step animations as well...

alright, I jest....

but honestly, if it didn't cause any conflicts or excessive lag, and wasn't a horror to implement, it would be a nice addition

the files can be found here (http://andarian.com/AndarianNet/434/28701.html) nowadays, I believe, but the ones that are explicit material can be disabled

maybe not for this hak, but for the next?

edit: put in the wrong link woops. new one should be the only source of these still around

edit 2: it is also included in Project Q, so it's safe to assume it's free for public use
