Title: Discussion of file-sharing and PDFs
Post by: Delphinidae on July 01, 2009, 07:55:54 PM
Although it's not mentioned in our forum rules, it's best to address this right now.

Despite whatever good intention you might have, discussing how to share PDFs or other Ravenloft goodies through PMs or posts, in other words, through these forums in general is not accepted. This is because they are copyright protected and are not in the public domain, nor are they under the Creative Commons license. Posting or PMing such could lead to the legal prosecution of the forum admins, which could mean fines or jailtime at its worse. This is not a debatable issue. Most people believe file-sharing is a right, and isn't against the law. Saddly, this is not the case with the current laws. It is very illegal. Please do not put us in a position in which we might have to ban you for this.

If you want to know more about the ongoing legal battles on copyright, Intellectual Property and the RIAA/MIAA persecutions, I recommend you read Slashdot and check The Recording Industry vs. the People. There's also several books under Creative Commons discussing copyright law, use and abuse.
