Title: Portable Hard Drive
Post by: ThAnswr on March 29, 2009, 12:25:46 PM
Maybe some of you tech-savvy people can help me.

Can NWN run off a portable hard drive?  Including this server.

Thanks in advance.

Yes.  I was able to do it during my recent computer trouble, using a hard drive enclosure for the drive from my dead laptop.  Unfortunately the loaner machine I was running it off of was fairly weak, so had trouble running it well, but I think that was memory/processor/video card problems rather than anything inherent in running it off of a portable drive.

How much would it take up to load it onto a portable drive?

About 9 GB of space, I think.

Alright, if I ever get around to purchasing, would that mean I could effectively bring a completely ready-to-play copy of NWN anywhere I want?

Depends on where you want to go I guess. For example, I wouldn't recommend taking your completely ready-to-play copy of NWN scuba diving.

Or into the sauna with you.

OH! Or whitewater rafting.

With my collection of NWN mods .................... 22 GB's.

Thanks everyone for your input.
