Bugged domains?

On my cleric with plant domain and wisdom 17, cha 14 it says you can turn vermin as though they were undead but I go up to rats and try it and nothing happens.
Regular turning undead works but why would it say you can do that if you can't?
I don't think that is intentional.

I would understand if he couldn't turn dire rats, spiders, etc. but regular rats should be getting spooked. That's what was advertised in the description. Huh!

Rats in D&D are just animals. Iridni already provided the definition for vermin in D&D/NWN. Its a race-type.

The etymology of vermin is similar to "worm," so it's not that strange.

Also, vermicelli comes from the same root!
