Useful info, hints and tips for the event:Getting into the game- If you are
entirely new to NWN, Ravenloft or the concept of
actual, "true" roleplay, we have a FAQ
here. We are passionate about creating an immersive and convincing roleplay experience, so if you are unfamiliar with this kind of play, we strongly encourage you to check out the FAQ so you know what is expected of you before joining.
- For those
new to the server looking for basic info about how to actually play, get all info here:

To existing players, note that to partake in the event, you need to own Neverwinter Nights: Enhanced Edition. It can be bought here (currently with a 15% discount!):
https://www.beamdog.com/products/neverwinter-nights-enhanced-edition- The easiest way to get the files for the EE server is by using our
custom launcher and downloader that you can find
here.
If you have downloaded and installed it before, you need to redownload it as it has been updated for Enhanced Edition.- If you use
steam to launch the game, you can also subscribe to our workshop entry
here. In that case, make sure to also subscribe to the CEP
here.
- Alternatively, you can
install manually by downloading the newest versions of our hak/tlk package
here (smaller, but requires
7zip or similar) or
here (regular zip). Remember that you will need to download the CEP in addition to this, available
here. Extract all packages to your "Documents" \ "Neverwinter Nights" folder.
- To
join the server, either find "Ravenloft - Prisoners of the Mist" in the server list in game or use Direct Connect to
46.4.59.55:5123.
Creating your character- You can create your character for the event already on the EE server, just not enter the world yet.
- Contrary to prior events, you will not be able to convert pre-existing characters to be eligible to join the event.
Braving the world- Ravenloft POTM is designed to be a group experience, so form a party before exploring dangerous places. Thankfully, finding companionship is usually very easy during the event.
- Beware that the nights are dark and full of terrors. Most natives stay indoors at night and usually it's recommend that you do the same.
- If you or a friend dies, it may be hard to find someone to revive you during the event, but the XP loss of using the shaft of light in the Near Ethereal to restore you to life is very small at lower levels. Don't feel ashamed to use it!
Special Rules for the event- Players that prior to the event own characters that are members of a faction is allowed to make a new character for the event that starts out as a member of this faction. The exception to this rule is characters of the Ba'al Verzi, the Dawnslayers, the Van Ritchen Society and the Fraternity of Shadows factions.
- Players that prior to the event own a AMPC or MPC character can make new characters for the event that start out as AMPC. They will have a maximum lifespan of the event.
- Players that do not prior to the event own an AMPC or MPC character but wish to make one for the event can apply for that on the usual AMPC terms. We will however be more lenient toward accepting such AMPCs compared to usual.
Opting out of the event- Even if we hope as many of you as possible will take part in the event, it is not mandatory. For the duration of the event, you can still play on the old non-EE server with your pre-existing characters.
-
All pre-existing characters have their starting points relocated to points outside the zone of the event if logging in while it's running. If you would like to avoid this, simply refrain from logging on to that character during the event.
- If your character is relocated in this way, it's up to you to make up an IC reasoning as to why he/she ended up outside the zone.
