Summons not doing anything

Ever since the time on summons was extended I've noticed that sometimes when you leave your summon idle for too long they stop responding to commands.
You can click attack/guard me as much as you want while enemies bash you and the summon just stands right next to you doing nothing.

This bug has been present long before the recent update. The (temporary) fix is to go through a transition and back again, and the summon will once more respond to commands.
