Maker's Mark and Gilding
« on: April 03, 2018, 12:56:57 AM »
So it appears that a maker's mark does not survive the gilding process. I found this out the hard way. However, you also cannot place a mark while gilding in the tub. Am I missing something?

Will check it out. Though note that the mark does not work in gilding tubs. The maker's mark works only when making the actual item. It is intended that way, though clearly it should not disappear either if you put it in the tub by mistake.
Best Regards!

Can you elaborate? What happens when you put a maker's mark in the gilding tube? The item gets destroyed?

The maker's mark doesn't work when gilding and enchanting because we didn't want people to double-stamp an item. I'll fix that part so you can stamp when gilding as long as there isn't already a stamp.

I think he means the mark is overwritten by the new description.

Sorry, please allow me to clarify.

I had a steel dwarven waraxe with a the mark stamped on it which showed in the description. However, when I gilded it with silver, that part of the description was gone.

So any maker's marking in the description of the item is overwritten by the gilding process.

It was working as intended as of late last week, where I made several steel weapons with the mark on the anvil, and then gilded them in the tub with silver.

Be sure that the mark is actually made, type the description using the required @stamp commands, and then with a steel ingot in on the anvil, use the smith hammer to make the stamp.

Both items had the description.

The items were made over 6 months ago. Is it possible that something changed which did not grandfather the description over? It is not a huge deal as it is just as easy to remake the items. I just wanted to bring this to your attention.

If the mark was cleared, have you tried re-applying it? Just curious, since you said it was made 6 months ago is it possible that something in the hak update cleared it entirely?

I did. I tried it in the gilding tub and also on the anvil. Neither worked.
