Suggestions for emote keywords

(1/2) > >>

Arawn:
Hi all. We've now got a list of new emotes, but so far they aren't linked to the [keyword] system. This is in part because the dev responsible (me) is having trouble choosing keywords that correspond. Could you all perhaps think and suggest one-word keywords that are:

1) unlikely to occur when you don't actually want an emote
2) succinct enough to be typed quickly in the party channel
3) memorable?

Here's Emptyanima's list for reference:

Here's a list of all the new custom emotes. I've added examples to describe the action (they don't appear as messages or anything -- in fact, no one can see the commands);

@emote 1 - *juts out hip to the side*

@emote 2 -  *nods*

@emote 3 - *pray*

@emote 4 - *worship/genuflect*

@emote 5 -  *looks into the distance*

@emote 6 - *stands*

@emote 7 - *sits* (old style)

@emote 8 - *nods* (but on repeat?)

@emote 9 - *begs*

@emote 10 - *knocks/bang on the door*

@emote 11 - *laughs*

@emote 12 - *set trap*

@emote 13 - *use/unlock*

This emotions repeats with something which already exists. But  old keywords using short time emotions. I think some emotions can be replaced.
Like here is few.

@emote 5
This using [gaze]. Think it can be added [look]?..

@emote 8
This one using [talk] animation.

@emote 10
This one using [shout]

@emote 12
it is same emotion as [pick up]

Other emotions as sleeping, tired, sitting. Old keywords repeats this emotions normal.
Main thing, firstly it is need just recheck all old keywords which using short-time emotions and fix them if this thread about to put little changed emotions in keywords.

Arawn:
None of those work as keywords, alas--if every time someone typed "talk" it triggered an emote people would be emoting at completely inappropriate times. They have to be specific enough to be memorable but unique enough to not trigger by accident.

Iridni Ren:
One thought is to have an emote style, so that common words won't be mistaken. For example, "nod_" with the underbar causes the emote. That would make remembering easy as well.

@emote 1 - *hip_*

@emote 2 -  *nod_*

@emote 3 - *pray_*

@emote 4 - *worship_*

@emote 5 -  *peer_*

@emote 6 - *stand_*

@emote 7 - *sit_* (old style)

@emote 8 - *nodding_* (but on repeat?)

@emote 9 - *beg_*

@emote 10 - *knock_*

@emote 20 - *spasm_*

@emote 21 - *pipe_*

@emote 22 - *strum_*

@emote 23 - *drink_*

@emote 24 - *handshake_*

@emote 25 - *pushup_*

@emote 26 - *dance_*

@emote 27 - *hide_hands_* (don't like this but tried to keep it short)

Arawn:
The system is designed to respond to things people emote, though. It may be we've simply reached the limit of what works. But I thought I'd let you guys chip in.
