Chers citoyens de la République

Tragedy has befallen a brave defender of your liberty!

The night before last a Gendarme was struck down by an off-duty member of the Company of the Fox. It should come as no surprise given the Council
of Brilliance passed a decree to allow criminals, oui…murderers, thieves and thugs who should otherwise be rotting in a jail cell to now serve off their debt
to society as a member of the Company. I believe it is an illustrious offer, given how often the Company and their commander; the Vicomte Marceaux
trample and dishonour the Gendarme.

Two Gendarme were beaten by this supposed commander, Juste Marceaux for approaching the encampment, that’s right; beaten. So I am sure the criminals
now calling themselves soldiers enjoy this a grand deal, finding it entertaining to say the least.

Fate is often strange, now Port-a-lucine seems to be run by criminals who dishonour and humiliate the -once- proud defenders of the city. Perhaps a
change is needed? Least you or your families be the next victim of this thuggish gang which lingers upon our doorstep.

-Where Fear becomes Folly-

Should caution not end where folly begins?

Caution?

Do we keep the company about purely due to caution, the fear of Falkovnia? Is this the price we pay in pride to feel a little safer. To imprison ourselves
in our own city with a company of mercenaries forever camped outside, to allow them to recruit our criminals and beat our own Gendarme.

Where is our pride?

Folly?

Are we not Dementlieuse, the enlightened culture? Why do we allow Caliban recruiting, criminal hiring scum of the core to roam about our city, for the
Vicomte Marceaux with his own private army to beat the rightful defenders of our liberty, is it fear?

Our fears have become folly, and the Council will never disband the company as no alternative is given, such is the strength of their fear, How weak our
leaders have become.

I echo M. le chevalier Vincent Poul Poissier, Marquis de Sayriac, Seigneur de Chabrol in their plea for a new Lord-Governor who has the strength and faith
in our own Gendarme; not the foreign barbarians nor criminal scum to defend the enlightened Dementlieu.

-Noblesse oblige-

'Tis ours, the dignity they give to grace
The first in valour, as the first in place;
That when with wondering eyes our confidential bands
Behold our deeds transcending our commands,
Such, they may cry, deserve the sovereign state,
Whom those that envy dare not imitate!
