Prayer at Dawn

Sun of Mercy, shine in the fear of my heart
Where Thou blaze, my courage is mended
Illuminate my hands, Father of Light
So I may heal the suffering to Thy glory
Burn away my pride that free of its bonds
I may kneel before Thee and all who are poor in spirit.

Thine undying love is better than ego's cord
I am lost here where the shadows fall
But beneath the rays of Thy wings I labor
As bright dawn renews me and Thou ascend over the darkness.

My windows cracked, but they can be replaced.
Your arm will tire throwing stones my way.

When I Am Wounded

Let me not flee from pain, O Shining Father
But seek it in Thy holy name
For when I think myself whole
Thou cannot remake me in Thy perfect light
Nor do I comprehend the suffering of another
Unless I have felt its savage fang myself
Only in hurt shall I know the urgency to heal
And to restrain an angry hand

Rend Thou my core as an opened wound
So light may cleanse where darkness lingers.

My windows cracked, but they can be replaced.
Your arm will tire throwing stones my way.

When I Am Weak

My strength fails
O God of Might,
Thy useless child
I am.

A new babe

Thine arms bear me
Aloft on Star Thought,
Where stones no longer
Weary and bruise my naked feet.

The spear of my foe cannot breach Thy Holy Sky,
Where Thy divine will refills my overturned cup,
Secures this soft flesh in armor of light and steel,
And once more to sacred service welds my weaponed hand.

My windows cracked, but they can be replaced.
Your arm will tire throwing stones my way.

A Petition for Wisdom

Though I am barely a woman, my Sun Father,

I ache for the wisdom Thou alone canst grant.

I would that my raven locks be as gray as the Mists

That my clear mind sail a sea of trouble

That my young body suffer sickness and pain

To understand how to counsel others

To stay them from the angry lure of darkness

To sow the seeds of peace among my Kin.

For now Thy servant speaks without learning

She answers from a child’s heart

Her babble a quiet murmur in the storm

Of a thunderous and grating roar.

My windows cracked, but they can be replaced.
Your arm will tire throwing stones my way.

Of Glass

The purest glass can light no room of her own:
Her every flaw distorts that which enters her
Before transcending to illuminate all.
In strange realms I kneel to be Thine unstained pane,
And plead that all love-blocking self fade away,
To reveal only Thine holiest image,
Nothing of Thy servant to dim Thy brilliance,
And, if shattered, that my splintered shards yet shine
In some pale corner with Thy reflected light.

Dark Night of the Soul
« Reply #5 on: February 14, 2017, 01:38:16 AM »

My Father, My Father, why hast Thou forsaken me?

I was a fawn in Thy morning of light and warmth
An innocent lamb beneath Thy blazing shield in the meadow of my birth
I sought nothing but to graze forever there and worship Thee with downcast eyes
Yet now I dwell in a land of night and evil
My enemies are beyond number and rise in the night to hunt
They are not animals nor men, but devourers of the soul
When I seek Thy comfort as of old, it is cold to me
Why am I abandoned in the Shadow of Death?
Have I angered Thee in my unworthy weakness?
Lost the love I thought eternal and without measure?

Even so I still proclaim Thy holy grace
I shall trust in my deliverer and fulfill my vows
Though I have become a worm toiling in darkness
I shall keep my vigil to see again Thy face
Standing fast until Thou heareth the pleas
Of Thy poured out servant and bless her with victorious dawn.

My windows cracked, but they can be replaced.
Your arm will tire throwing stones my way.

Temptation
« Reply #6 on: February 23, 2017, 09:55:34 AM »
Father of the Dawn, Thou loveth life and hateth death--
Thy light and warmth make fertile the frigid ground.
In this dark land where I was cut off from all but Thee that I loved,
I prayed for and received companionship.
Yet now I tremble that I have displeased Thee:
Must I consecrate myself only to service?
Wherefore must Thy servant toil in loneliness?
Two are stronger than one when in harness,
And he has lifted me when I have fallen,
As I have encouraged him toward mercy like Thine own.

Yet I know of no reason for my loss of favor,
Unless Thou art jealous of this new affection.
Thou knoweth my certain, long abiding love--
That I seek Thy will and not my own,
To obey Thee is dearer than the breath in my body.

So I beg now for a revealing sign--
What must I do to please Thee as of old?
For I have given up everything to follow Thee,
Nothing remains of myself, and if his love is not from Thee,
Then I will yield even the last portion of my heart in sacrifice on Thine altar,
Though in its loss I die to the world.

Much gratefulness to the player who created the video. Terrific job!

Endless hours I pray to lift this dark doubt from me,
As my power grows to surpass my wisdom,
But I remain so young in body and mind,
Like a child lamenting her uncountable blessings,
Begging only that her path be made straight and clear.
If my Kin who shield and warm me and grant me every boon,
Knew my weak resolve, my indecision,
They would be as ashamed of me as I am of myself.
My love is the truest of knights,
Mighty against evil and yet gentle to me,
Any woman would delight to be held in his arms,
Still, he contents himself with this ungrateful fool.

My most high Father, I seek Thine answer,
And receive only riddles for my ceaseless pleas—
Demand of Thy servant what Thou wilt,
And she will rise and answer, woman to god,
Though she be consumed alive in Thy golden splendor,
But leave her no longer alone and kneeling,
Terrified to make her choice.

Prayer of Thanksgiving
Forgive my doubt, Father of the Dawn:
My infidelity to the secure love Thou shines always upon me,
My spirit feared, and I trembled in the obscuring shadows—
Rather than trust to Thy sheltering hand.
Though my own strength is as a butterfly's wings in a storm,
I know Thee to be almighty!
I am a child who cannot abandon the shore,
And trust that Thy will for her is naught but holy blessings.
In thanksgiving I give Thee all:
Take all my grateful heart that yearns for Thee the more it is helpless
To prove itself worthy to be wounded and received.

A Prayer of Faith
« Reply #9 on: July 09, 2017, 02:24:24 PM »
In this land so far from Almor
I felt the seed of doubt lodge within my soul,
For none here called upon Pelor's holy name.
Like the lamb who lost sight of her shepherd
And was cut off from her flock, I knew only fear,
Yet in His tireless strength my shepherd searched for me
And from afar I once more heard His voice
In the words of a stranger who was yet also a brother.

How could I lack for confidence
When I see the blessings of Thy works?
The hungry fed, the poor clothed, and even the dead raised—
By Thine own strong hand and not the frail and trembling arm of Thy servant!
Yet faith is to believe when I cannot see the shepherd,
To know in black night the dawn but waits to cleave the darkness.
And only by such mighty faith can I please Thee,
For these good works are not my own.
Do not be ashamed to call me Thy child, my Father,
For in knowing all my weakness the fiercer my faith in Thee becomes.

A Prayer of Confession
« Reply #10 on: October 12, 2017, 11:05:32 AM »
Thy child has not hidden her sins from Thee, my gracious Father,
But confessed them before Thy prophet and all did hear.
I was abased, yet Thou did not remove the Blessed Light.
In infinite goodness Thou sent a messenger of Peace and Mercy--
How can I ever be deserving of such Forgiveness and Love?
Remove from me my contemptible nature,
A soul that cleaves to the dust that is my body
And fears melting into the Purity of Thy glorious rays.
Yet as the darkness gives way each day to Dawn,
I shall rise once more at your restoring command.
For though I am the least of servants,
Hardly worthy to be sold for a slave,
My mouth cannot rebuke Thy Word
That gives Hope to the captive
And promises her undeserved freedom.

My windows cracked, but they can be replaced.
Your arm will tire throwing stones my way.
