Quieting fires
« on: February 29, 2016, 05:39:29 PM »
So, I'm finding the sound effects around things like campfires inordinately loud compared to other sound effects in the game. (to the point where I try avoiding things like permanent campfires, fireplaces, etc or at least keeping my distance because I need to turn my volume down solely for the one sound effect)

I assume the problem is with my system, but server or system I don't know how to quiet a fire down from sounding like an inferno.

Anyone have any ideas?

You can try turning the camera and what not. I find on my system that if I move the angle around, I can minimize the sound some. Though I do agree, it does seem like they are extra noisy at times.

The default size for sound objects is a 10 meter radius, which is huge, and many times people place them without adjusting this radius. The result, when you have a bunch together overlapping, is rather loud. If you can specify the trouble spots, by area name and a screenshot with the minimap open, I can edit the sounds to a more reasonable size.
