The Tale of Sir Solomon. - Solomon Burke -
« on: April 30, 2013, 08:51:24 PM »

In the capital city of Touraine two boys were born on the same day at the same time and on the same street. Solomon Burke and Vallen Dirge.
The Boys spent their time as any other normal boy would, playing with sticks and wishing one day to become a knight under the lady of the land Elena Faith-hold.
Everyday the boys would pray for their dreams to come true pray to the sun god Belenus.
Eventually they were accepted in to squire-hood to train under Sir Robin. Sir Robin was not the bravest knight nor the best fighter but the boys did their duty in his service.
Years went by and a pit started to grown in the boys stomachs.
The differance between he and the rest of his kin was like his friend Valen, in their history they had great anscestors, Knights of Belenus who'd fought to keep their people safe. Though now, the inquistion of Belenus and the spys of Elena were everywhere oppressing the people, they came to realise... this was not Belenus' work. During battle Sir Robin was struck by a crossbow bolt and was knocked off his horse. Dead before he hit the ground.
No one would notice that his squires were missing. Defying the inquisition they set off into the night, avoiding the forests of Avonleigh and it's encroaching hand, and arrived in Barovia.

Our first encounter in the land was eventful we had interactions with a vampire known as mother. She had taken a liking to Vallen. Also the chance meeting of a woman known as Jade. She helped the two of us in our time of need and told us of a God of the Sun. She did not reveal all about this god but what she said did ring true. With our new found faith we became stronger and stronger in this land. To put Belenus behind was a surprisingly easy task.

The light of The Dawnfather flows through Solomon's blood and soul. Although he has not found his true quest in life he continues on his path, travelling the core cleaning the taint where ever he finds it.

Sir Solomon Burke, Squire.

Day 435.

I have been traveling alot lately, But something was haunting me in the temple of the overseer last time i was there.... im going to investigate further and put more study into what happened. Still no word from Vallen. The wayfarers said they wish to think over my application and in a few months i could become apart of their group.... Seems that my application would have been accepted sooner if i was friends with members in the group and not just a upstanding knight. The news about Jades Death has placed a sign of grief on me. I shall mourn her memory tonight in prayer.

The activities of the Morninglord and Ezrite church seem to have slowed down. How ever evil the old Von Zeklos lands are. The vampire Leon, he was performing magic tricks at the theater. True enough a man could turn from a bat into a man by use of a trap door. Hypnotism could have been used on the girl without supernatural aid. I have seen men swallow swords at the fair, and I suppose a trap door in the iron maiden under the stage to the coffin would work. These were all very odd tricks and seeing mist move from iron maiden to coffin i had to test this theory. Blessing the vat of water would suffice, My suspicions were proven when he made a big deal about being dunked in holy water.... unfortunately i was thrown out of the theater. Had i stayed i would have been killed. Im sure his time will come.

Heading back to Vallaki right now. This temple needs to be investigated.

Day 440

Visited the Temple of the overseer, Nothing new to report.
I have spent the last five days in vallaki... M'lady Dawnstar was being attacked by a abomination of sorts. Necromancy was at work i believe.
Graves have been dug up and body parts missing from the coffins. First sighting of the beast was on my first day back. I managed to chase it off and it ran down the sewer. Have not heard word about its return.

After exiting the sewer the local guard fired upon myself and the rest of the people, even after we had done as they asked. They whipped an elf later that day. I offered to take the lashings but they would not have it. The thugish behavior of the guard is getting tiresome, I spoke to their commander about their behavior and he said he would keep them in line. However time will tell.

Word has reached me about the current activity of the vampire Leon... If this abomination does not spring up dementaliu will be my next stop.

Day 453

The vampire Leon has been destroyed.
Nothing more at the temple of the overseer.
Har'akir was a challenge but I survived and many priests of the undead were destroyed.
The orphanage in vallaki has lost a child to what Sola suspects to be a hag. More investigation needed.
Dementaliu has been quiet.
Blaustien Hazlan and Perfidus have nothing to report.

Personal note... Visit the carnival it could prove interesting if not a little fun.

I have been spending nights at the orphanage and have seen no activity there for the last few days. The children are still scared but they are a hearty bunch. Sola is watching the orphanage and will keep an ear out. Have been spending time at the blood of the vine tavern in the village of Barovia, things seem quiet.

The wayfarers have decided that i need to socialize more with current members to join their cause. The cause is noble but the method of being friends is more important than the will to do your duty is disturbing to me. Do I want to join this cause, yes. Perhaps i can change things so that more good can be done.

Ill stay at the blood of the vine for a while but vallaki seems to be in trouble more at this point in time.

Day 478

Everything has been quiet lately....
I missed the carnival but nothing happened out of the ordinary there.
Wayfarers still prefer to have the man with the silver tongue rather than the man with the silver blade.

Managed to achieve a new more fluid way of fighting... Im much faster now.
Blood of the vine tavern seems to have become my temporary home for now, Feels safer for some odd reason.

No reports of any major disturbances.

Day 482

Something occured to me resently, To become the best i can as a man i must not be represented as a man of one church but a man of the people.
I have since removed my sigial and colour from my tabard and kept my necklace under my gambison.
For all peoples to start believing in the power of rightousness and good there must not be a church there to press its belief upon others.
I am still loyal to my church but it is not gods who change people in the core, no its is the people themselves.

I have desided to look more into my faith and seek those of more advanced knowledge of The Dawnfather. This task will prove difficult.
Also i will be spending alot more time around Barovia. The morninglordian church has a strong grasp on what it means to help those in need. I am sure they will require my aid as well.

Staying in vallaki for the time being, Word spreads fast around this village, if there is trouble im sure it will be talked about.

Day 486

Currently residing in Krofburg, Handed a fair donation to the morninglordian church to aid with the miners there.
It seems that the village is plagued by a werebeast. My studies are now occupied with finding this beast and freeing the lost soul trapped inside.
But to get there i need to find the beast in human form. The local Morninglordian Woman Mina said that it was a bear turned in to werebeast.
I find this unlikely but if it is the case there is little hope to save the bear.

The ale isnt bad here either.

Day 487

Faught the Werebeast the other night. There is a man inside it showed cowardice and would run and hide while it waited to regenerate then attack again. If it was purely animal it would have not stopped attacking. Eventually i was taken down by the beast and it tore at my back ripping out bone and organs devouring them. The priest at the morninglord temple in krofburg managed to heal me. I can still walk so i assume he used some form of regeneration magic. I will be taking it a little easy while my new bones and organs gain their durability. However i now know that i need to find a man.

I am currently look for a way to banish the curse from the man. If there is a small chance i would seek to try and free the beast from the man. If all else fails i will have to set them both free.

Day 517

The vampire that has been plaguing the city of vallaki in resent weeks will be dealt with shortly, I have offered my knowledge to Eugne, if he takes me up on the offer remains to be seen. The outskirts was attacked by blood cultists. Red mist and maggots are a good calling card. The leader was rather impressed by my skill in battle and was rather interested in me personally. I have no doubt i will see more of him.

A group of undead riders attacked the outskirts at night, People never listen. White Mist appeared and the riders came we fended them off for sometime and one managed to make it into the church. Unsure if this will happen again.

My investigation into the strange rituals performed in the morninglordian crypts and the collection of items has lead me to believe that the person doing this is a follower of Osiris, How ever the vulture feather has me thinking that it is more the work of Nehkbet. Must remember to pick up some jackal figure's next time i am in har'akir.

The Gundarakite rebels have been bombarding the city with oxen filled with black powder. Although my time will be spent on the supernatural this is still an incident of note.

Nothing more to report.

Day 521

Sevik is dead. After the Blessed mirror didn't work on him i knew the Hag stories to be just that, stories.
I had a painting made for him, it was of his beloved Nadaya a vistani girl that met her end in Castle Ravenloft.
I told Sevik to remember who he was remember what kind of man he was when he was with her, That night we parted ways.
He still had the painting.

Yesterday Sevik attacked me, Between his blows i could hear his plea's for me to end his torture, to kill him and end it all.
The blow was struck and he lay weakened. I sat him up and told him that he would be with her soon, Sevik whispered "thank you".
I pressed my sword down his back and with that. He was gone.

He Held in his hands a tarot card, The Hanged Man. Not sure of the significance yet.
I read him his last rights said a few personal words and let cleansing fire send him on his way.
His ashes were scattered into the vistani lake.. where he and Nadaya would spend many nights talking.

My studies into The Dawnfather have been aided, when things calm down ill need to head to the village and search for answers.
My faith in him brought the rains to extinguish the fires left by the rebels, My faith shall guide me to him once again.

Both myself and Stacey have been re-animated by the Devoured and we have both since then been brought back, Our fight continues and payback is a fickle mistress. In my exploring of where i was carried and the re-animated Stacey was found, I have found what looks to be the lair of the Lich, I will need everyone's help on this.

I will wake Stacey momentary and i have sent ravens to the other two.

Day 549

I found this journal in my pocket so i guess its mine.
My name is Solomon Burke and i seem to be some kind of knight in service to the dawn father.

It looks like ive been around a long time. But my memory is still fuzzy, I think this devoured person took away most of my memory.
Its coming back slowly.

Ill seek some help with the clergy and talk about pledging service to the Morninglord. Maybe they can help me remember.

Day 555

Breeanna Soreaske, Ophelia Sidhel, Therion Stormwind, Casavir Lightbringer, Eleora Tealeaf, Eugene Daarkstaar and I have defeated The Devoured.

We ventured up into the Terg crypts, we battled many foes in the catacombs.
At first the Lich tried to strike a deal with us in the main chamber, after refusing his minions attacked and we beat them back time and time again, I was struck down at the same moment as i destroyed the lich's physical form. After being revived we revived the others whilst battling more minions to give breeanna time to bring them back. Therion was transported into the Inner chamber where the lich had come back as a floating head. We beat him down in his weakened state but his magic was strong. After the head was destroyed it dropped the Phylactery and i held it up with an iron grip. It started to send black tendrils down my arm so i used my Healing Touch to try and combat the darkness, In a display of holy light the phylactery was destroyed. With the Lich Finally gone and his magic removed from this world the rooms started to collapse so we ran and we all made it out alive.

I will forever remember what we did here and the people that helped me rid the world of this great evil.
Thank you my friends.

My studies and religious enlightenment continues, I will talk with Father Ilie again soon.
My memory has returned and im still getting used to having white hair, I cut off a portion to remind myself of my dealings with the Lich.

Day 557

I was standing in the outskirts today when Stump the dwarf mentioned a hole in the ground with a door behind it up in the Ghakis Mountains, I went to investigate.
Sure enough i found the hole in the ground with the door but it was locked and i believe it was the same hideout where the vampire Vladis was slain.
During my exploration i also came upon another door on the side of the mountain, there were unholy symbols around the door and a large unholy circle a few feet from it.
I believe this to be the fortress of the death cult that has been hunting Vallaki.

Day 568

The vampires Serafim and another covered in steel armor attacked the outskirts last night. They managed to subdue me and i woke with puncture marks in my neck and my left hand missing. The wounds have since been taken care of and i have spoken to the metal smith in the residential district to create a false hand for me. What he came up with works rather well. I was also attacked by what seems to be two of the vampires thralls or sympathizers. They will repent for their actions or face the Morninglords justice.

[The writing is messy and shaky more so than Solomon's usual hand writing]

Day 659

At last I found my pack!
4 Days of wondering around in the dark and I finally found my hammer so I can have some light... The cave is endless..
I was exploring vallaki and fell into a hole, I awoke in complete darkness. I was lucky to have some dried beef and pork on me... It was hard rationing but now I have found my pack and....

More dried meats..... But the replenishing water skin will keep me sustained until I can find my way out of here.
I can heard loud thuds and thumps above and around me... Hopefully the city is not under siege.

Im finding it hard to pray to the dawn father in this lack of sunlight and no way to tell time. However now that I have my pack ahHA! its still here, my pocket watch.
8:43PM... but I only just finished dawn prayers.

I do hope I can find an exit soon.

Day 660

Fifth day inside the hole.
As it turns out this cave isnt as big as I thought it was, I must have been going around in circles but with the light of my hammer I can see now that it is only One Hundred feet from one end to the other.
No exits found unfortunately.

Rationing food has become easy and I think ill have just enough to last a week.
Its very lonely down here and I enjoy talking with the beetles that wander into the cave, they are good listeners and have much wisdom to share.

Dawn prayers are becoming harder and harder. I cant seem to focus, Maybe its the constant bickering between Andrew and Clydessa that keeps me from concentrating.
Jason, Mason, Grayson and Jill keep to themselves. It is a wonder to see how these creatures live, No good nor evil just the task at hand.

If I hung my replenishing water skin from the top of the cave and opened it... would I eventually drown?
Ill keep looking for the exit tomorrow. I fear I might go crazy if I stay in here too long.

Day 661

Sixth day in the hole.
Wandering around this small cave has kept me entertained for a short while, I find it relaxing to count the steps as i walk from one end to the other almost pacing. Still 486 steps to walk every inch of the cave.
No exits found yet.

Rations are holding up but i think Grayson has been stealing food.... I did question him about this and got no reply... he might be hiding something more than thievery.

Andrew and Clydessa seem to have sorted out their differences. Mason hasnt been in the best of mood i think he is rather fond of jill and may be upset that Jason is now in a relationship with her. Poor Mason.

Prayers are still complicated possibly because of the lack of sunlight. I am finding it easier to see in complete darkness.
Tomorrow i have a game of tick tack toe with Grayson. Jason, Jill and I have a picnic planed at the north east end of the cave.
At least i think its north east; I hope I dont get lost and turn up late.

After the picnic ill continue to look for an exit.

Day 664

Ninth day in the Hole.
Its good to have a break finally,
I started digging. Grayson told me to dig straight through the north side. Its hard to tell with way north is but I went with my gut and started digging.
Turns out gut was right it was north but I think Grayson wants me to die down here. Bet he told me to dig in the wrong place.

Luckily both Mason and Jill have told me to try digging in the East end of the cave. Ill start tomorrow, just need to get some sleep.
Rations are running low. Maybe only a few more days left.
Dawn prayers are near impossible to complete. My mind cant focus.

Grayson is a traitor.... He's evil, He's trying to kill me. Should I kill him before he can kill me.... No NO...
Ill let the others judge him for his crimes... Trail of Sir Solomon Burke, Lightcarrier / Knight Commander VS Grayson the Beetle.
This will be the trail of the century... After justice more digging.

Hopefully Jill and Mason are right and East is the way out. I fear I might go crazy if I stay in here too long.
Poor Mason, The girl never goes for the nice guy.

Day 666

IVE MADE IT OUT!
Finally after eleven days in that hole i managed to dig through the walls right where Jill and Mason told me to.

I said good by to my friends and had a final farewell party with Mason, Jason, Jill, Andrew and Clydessa.
Unfortunately Grayson couldn't make it as he was placed in Prison for life. However he is crafty and those rocks will not hold him long.
Evil finds a way to continue destroying the world eventually.

On the up side Jason and Jill have made some sort of agreement with Mason... I believe its some sort of open relationship.
I think Mason will be all right.

Upon returning to the temple i carried out my duties and thought fondly of my new found friends.
