Special Addition

Festival of Fashion
Quote

The Festival of Fashion, the last event in the Golden Candle awards, held in the Grand ballroom of the Governor's Hotel was a somber event. Perhaps it was the fact that the evening's celebrations were not only to celebrate high fashion, but also a farewell to Madame Renee Bellamy who had planned to depart to Mordent for an indefinite amount of time. The turn out was small, mostly close friends of Madame Bellamy in attendance. What truly put a damper on the evening was when Sieur Drukker took the stage and gave a shot speech. Sieur Drukker spoke highly of Madame Bellamy's work, and her effect on those around her, and asked her to reconsider her departure. When Madame Bellamy sadly informed the crowd her mind was made up, the evening took a turn for the worse. Sieur Drukker produced Madame Bellamy's contract of employment as editor for La Bougie, calling attention to the year of service she is contractually obligated to fill, and vowed to sue her for the breach in contract. He then went on to point out that in Madame Bellamy's contract she is entitled to fifty percent of La Bougie's advertisement revenue, the other fifty is going to Sieur Drukker himself. He stated that Madame Bellamy had failed to pay him his dues, and unless she was able it would be considered theft. Unable to produce the coin, or in fact any receipts, contracts or information on exactly how much is owed, Madame Bellamy was placed under arrest by Inspector Jean-Luc Derosier in front of shocked Festival attendees. Madame Bellamy's trip to Mordent will have to delayed as she is incarcerated until an estimate of what is owed can be produced, and the case taken before a magistrate.

Death of Lilianne de Moreau
Quote

With the disgrace and rumor the Dukker-Moreau family has been recently mired in, Doctor Wymmer Drukker has chosen to hold a small funeral service for his wife Lilianne de Moreau, the location of the funeral will not be made public, and only close friends and family will be in attendance. Doctor Drukker declined to comment on the death of his wife, but his solicitor has issued the following statement:

Quote
My client Doctor W. M. Drukker entrusted his wife's safety to Doctor Vilhelm Mikki, of the Mikki Sanatorium to treat her rapidly deteriorating mental faculties. A few short days after her admittance, Lilianne de Moreau was found not safely within the Sanatorium, but dead along the Widow's walk in Port-a-Lucine. Rest assure Dr. Mikki will be held accountable for his and his staff's failure to protect their charge. Furthermore, neither Dr. Mikki nor his staff made any attempt to contact Dr. Drukker to inform him of his wife's disappearance from the sanatorium. We put forward that Dr. Mikki's negligence is directly responsible for Madame Lilianne de Moreau's death, and I am filing charges on my Client's behalf this afternoon."

Potential Assassin Thwarted
Quote
In the wake of Charles Dauphin's failed coup, a ceremony was held on the 21st of may to honor Solange du Sauvre for he part in thwarting the treasonous plot. The controversial female Gendarme, was elevated in both professionally and social, being promoted to the rank of inspector, and Esquire at once. However before the executions of Dauphin's co conspirators could commence a scene broke out when Gendarme Dimitri Vonquette spotted a woman who had slipped past the barricades and was lingering behind the Lord Governor with drawn weapon. Vonquette ordered the woman to halt, but instead she attempted to flee, and as several spectators confirm - discharged some device to attempt to obfuscate herself from sight. However the woman was caught by the persistent Vonquette and promptly hauled off to jail. The woman who's name we have been asked not to release as of yet, has been confirmed by severel witnesses as a known associate of Vlad, a Caliban wanted for several counts of murder.

WANTED!

"VLAD"
A caliban, large and broad-shouldered, with a tail, known to wear the heavy armor associated with societies of antiquity. Wanted for the deaths of several Hotel staffers and gentryfolk.

To the person who slays this vile criminal, a reward of no less than 50,000 solars shall be bestowed, along with high honors coming from the Council of Brilliance itself!

Merci beaucoup,
~ The Gendarmerie

Durring the investigation, several sources have confirmed seeing the woman in the company of Vlad, on multiple occasions. While looking into the guest list of the Governor's hotel on the day of the vicious attack by Vlad, we have confirmed that a member of the Councile of Brilliance was within the hotel at the time of his attack. Leading the Gendarme to believe both incidents may be part of a larger assassination plot.

More on this story as it unfolds.
