Barovia - Village of Barovia - Sanctuary of Blessed Succor
« on: June 27, 2009, 09:17:46 AM »
Word soon spreads among the clergy of the faith around the village and soon back to Valiki from travelers of a small halfling devouting much of her time to healing and tending the sick in the small Hospice located there. With her at times are others of the faith other times she is alone. But in each case she does not shy away from the sick and needy tending to them how she can with a gentle shadowed smile from her hood, and a soothing tone to her voice.

A very pregnant light carrier is found pacing the temples interior non-stop. A look of fear, concern and distress on her gentle features. She is seen pausing only briefly from her pacing when a jolt of pain rushes through her abdomen before she once more pick up her steps. The Light Carriers watch on, shaking their heads as they are unable to calm her, or chase away her worries. The only response being -- "I want my husband!"

Recent word has it that an old dwarf with a staff and feather hat suddenly disappeared into thin air after a brief word with a figure wearing a gory armor, a helmet and clawed steel gauntlets. After that, said figure snarled out for all to hear: "Thieving dwarf!" and then departed, muttering moodily.

Just another cursed bunch of outlander witches, they say.

An exhausted and beaten Sergei stumbled into the Sanctuary yesterday. He had brief reassuring words with Lightcarrier Prior and Vicar Miklos. Soon afterwards Sergei was seen entering the small library adjacent the temple and began writing frantically in his journal. He remains silent concerning the assault he suffered at the hands a fellow clergy member.

Local priest Vicar Miklos has been seen arguing with the Ezrite surrounded by mists known as Warden Winterlass. The subject seemed an invasion of very powerful undead minions caused, in Vicar's words, by Marle; on the other hand the Ezrite accused the Morninglordian of hiding those foul creatures below their temple. Their argument concerned also the difference in faith, and the words which were spoken seemed daggers. Eventually Vicar asked to a green-clad local ranger to try to gather numbers to fight the undead. It is rumoured that a first assault to the place, driven by that man and other two heroic ones, a dark-clad man and a veiled woman, has been successful. But winning a battle is not winning a war. And the green-clad man kept scratching his back pondering on what to do.

A pool of blood had been found behind the Temple of the Blessed Succor. Upon further investigation bloody hand prints and a trail of blood leading into the graveyard were found. A strange soft voice in an unknown tongue was heard before becoming eerily silent. The disturbed dirt in the graveyard looked like something either crawled or was dragged. No body was found and the trail ended at the other gate where the  ground was scorched with flame and burned with acid leaving the trail cold. Exiting the graveyard the same soft voice was heard again in the darkness of the night this time in song.

There is talk of a strange scene last night: The zombie remains of an undead adventurer charged against the people sheltered in the Sanctuary of Blessed Succor. He was swiftly put down by the Lightcarriers and allegedly buried in a grave nearby.

In the middle of the night, a woman in white blood stained armor arrived heavily wounded. A lightcarrier took her inside the temple immediately.

A man carrying a pickaxe and a large yellow quill feather entered the Mortuary crypts in the dead of night, traveling around the building and simply examining each door before heading down into the collapsed hall. He did not return with any stone, but it would seem that several large boulders were reduced to more manageable sized stone. Not leaving a name he simply said "Free of Charge".

[Word quickly spreads through the church that Dawnbringer Riley has returned to her home, the Village of Barovia-- in search of any other priests or priestesses of the Morning Lord. She asks they make themselves known to her if she does not know them already.]

((Can PM me here on the forums or find me in game on Riley. :) ))

[Rumor spreads that a new Dawnbringer has taken her oath today. Some people would recognize her as a local girl by the name of Loredana]

[Mother Loredana seems to have returned to the Blessed Succor with a portion of her flock. Rather than giving grand sermons though she is seen disappearing into the archive room only to emerge some hours later, her arms full of books just to hide away in her office. She has not been seen for a day now.

Four figures talk the night away at the Blood of the Vine. In the morning, three depart while the fourth visits the Sanctuary and leaves a message inquiring as to who among the clergy can grant a special request regarding the crypts behind the church. She identifies herself as Iridni Ren and states that she can be reached at the nearby inn.

[In the early morning hours, rumor has it that the graveyard behind the sanctuary was defiled and desecrated.  Graves belonging to those of importance were left untouched.  Mangled corpses and stray body parts were left behind — pieces that seemed too decayed and unfit for any use.]

A man in weathered robes is seen returning to the Sanctuary of Blessed Succor, spending an unnatural amount of time in silent prayer and introspective reflection in solitude - emerging instinctively to tend to the upkeep of the sanctuary and to assist in the hospice.

When not occupied by the solace of prayer and duty, he can be seen writing in a neatly bound book - something that he does not let leave his sight.

As the morning light breaks through the clouds, a elven woman in rose-gold armor adorned with symbols of the Morninglord, arrives at the Blessed Succor, accompanied by a small group. She heads straight to the hospice, seeking attention for wounds that have left scars on her back.

A man in black heavy armor arrives in the Village, after spending sometime in the temple he heads out from it and walks towards the local tavern.

Unusual owl with snow white feathers could be seen flying inside the Sanctuary before traveling back in the direction of Vallaki. Those with sharp eyes could spot a small message capsul strapped to its talons. The bird was doing multile trips a day, ocasionally spotted in Degannwy taking a short rest before going airborne again.

The elven woman, adorned in golden armor inscribed with the symbols of the Morninglord, has now taken up the role of a Lightcarrier within the temple grounds. Despite the emptiness of the grand temple, she engages in quiet conversation with anyone who enters.

As the afternoon cuts into the night, a small elven Morninglordian in baggy robes can be seen working tirelessly around the compound. She is seen leaving for a few hours with a stack of parchment before returning with more weathered notices that are quickly trashed. After that, she appears to spend the rest of the late afternoon shovelling away snow around the compound.

Throughout the week, a short-heighted elf Morninglordian was observed tending to an elderly and frail man at the back of the temple, where some of the faithful slept. Every morning, she cared for him while he lay in a coma-like state, and every night, she stood guard in full armor by the door to his room. This routine continued day and night for the entire week.

The last few days a blonde Barovian man has been coming and going from the sanctuary tending the wounded at the hospice and praying most of his time, occasionally donning the rosy robes denoting him as a Dawnbringer, supposedly he hasn't been seen anywhere in the core for the past half a year, he doesn't speak much but he is being helpful it's said.
